Sure! This is my workflow in FCPX:
Set the media library to "wide gamut", the project to "Rec. 2020 HLG", add the LUT as the basic grade and then grade the video with a color grading plugin like Color Finale 2 that works with HLG content (e.g. cinema grade does not work).
Initially the video will be displayed way too dark, so you have to adjust the exposure settings. I'm using waveform scopes to see if there's any clipping in the highlights or shadows. Then I use a noise reduction tool like Neat Video (tricky because it doesn't support HLG, so it's all overexposed).
Got it, thank you for sharing. I use Davinci Resolve. I also apply a LUT first to get the video to a basic reasonable view (also set project to Rec.2020 HLG in Resolve first). Then I also use the waveform in Resolve to check for clipping and adjust the saturation, shadows , highlights, global light, mid tones (Resolve now has HDR scopes too now btw, it allows for nice fine adjustments). Unfortunately I don't have a Decklink card right now, it's difficult to see final result in timeline, event though I have an HDR monitor, without Decklink card it displays regular rec.709 color at best. Have to export the project, check the video in third party windows video viewer and then make further adjustments. This process is so time consuming and inconvenient. Wish DJI included HLG native support for Mavic 3 to make it easier for everyone. Thank you for sharing, Mike. |
