I found it necessary to always go into the phone's ( Android ) settings to do the following:

1) turn on screen brightness to highest, to over the ambient light
2) turn phone to Airplane mode, stopping it from distracting me.

befroe each flight.

So it would be handy, if the DJI Go app can either through settings or startup prompts ( probably a little tedious ), to enable the above features. and then reset it back to the original settings when exiting the app, or being pushed into the background for a set time.

Another feature, is DO NOT initiate the gimble until just before takeoff, as sometime, we just want to turn on the Mavic for calibration, or check some settings etc., not necessary flying it.  This feature would saving any unnecessary strain on the gimbel.

Hope someone will pass this to the R&D team.

1. Having brightness set to max all the time drains the battery quicker and on darker/cloudy days it is not required.
2. I prefer the 'do not disturb' option rather than Airplane mode as I like to cache my maps live during flight using Hybrid and need cellular running to do that. I would not like the app to auto place my phone in AP mode.
3. Having a switch to turn off a gimbal sensor calibration before start up is just another thing to be done as a preflight check. The sensor calibration does not harm the gimbal or the drone. I would rather not have another switch to think about.

+1 I don't like speaking on phone and flying at same time but it happens.

It does but do not disturb stops incoming calls and texts without using airplane mode.

Thanks for your feedback. For your first question, I would recommend you use the Monitor Hood so that you can see the image screen under sunshine. Here is the link: https://store.dji.com/product/ma ... roller-monitor-hood

i agree with Fred - unfortunately not an effective solution. It definately helps sometimes but an effective solution is one that works in every situation - for me the goggles are the only real solution that i came across.

I turn off wifi also now days. i got to thinking that perhaps the wifi searching (which apparently happens often at 2.4 ghz) may be clashing with the rc and causing the app to disconnect. Might not be correct but since doing it i have not experiance app crashes again (yet - touch wood)

Its interesting reading these forums, Iv read almost the exact same complains before. It was evident that the whole interfacing with the phone was a big deal. Some stuff doest some stuff does. I ended up getting a used retna ipad mini 4 for 100 bucks. Phones has so much already going on, but I hope they fix these things still.

Airplane mode and screen brightness are awesome tips, basic stupid stuff but it helped thanks.

I went with the goggles. I like in in several ways. You have more "new" functions you can do and it does block nearly all the sunlight, and it's FPV goggles. Cheaper too, than Crystal Sky.

In addition to the brightness deal, house about something as simple as changing the colors on the menus?  Blue font on a black background?  I have problems seeing that in normal conditions much less bright daylight.

So it would be handy, if the DJI Go app can either through settings or startup prompts ( probably a little tedious ), to enable the above features. and then reset it back to the original settings when exiting the app, or being pushed into the background for a set time.

You can use an app like Tasker to preform those actions.

You could set it up a couple different ways. Create some icons that will set the screen brightness and airplane mode to your preference. One icon would turn up the brightness and put it in airplane mode. Another would reduce the screen brightness and take it out of airplane mode.

With a little more work, you could have those actions happen the the Go4 app starts and stops.
