It is not easy to take a good photo in the low light conditions, and the colors doesn't seem to be very juicy
So today I would like to share with you what colour adjustments do I do with my night shots:
First of all, let's take any picture that was shot at night.
DJI_02551.jpg
We have a lot of dark aerias and the colors are flat, so let import it into the Lightroom
Since our image is underexposed what we have to do is to pull the shadows up and highlights down.
QQ图片20151223205724.jpg
To make the colors more juicy i used Color adjustments
So two basic colors of this image are yellow and blue, I added a bit of saturation into those colors QQ图片20151223205628.jpg QQ图片20151223205646.jpg

So now it looks more colorful.
I  set the image tint to the Green added saturation and literally brushed the trees on a bottom of the so now they look green but not black. QQ图片20151223205611.jpg
Of course after all that operation my image is pretty noisy, so I had to denoise the whole image before the export.
Here is the result:
20151223-DJI_0255.jpg
I didn't made any major changes but it let the image look naturally better.
Welcome to share your night shots here

Holy Cow. Nice job. I'm lucky to work well between Contrast & Brightness! Sometimes the tint, but that's truly amazing. Nice work!

Light pollution robs us of the beauty of the night sky. So for fun I used Photopill to take a milky way shot in a dark area of Missouri. Then the next night i used my quad and Photopills again to align and time the exact same shot of my little towns City Hall...  I then combined them to show what would be seen without the light pollution.

Great Night pics guys

But...

There is no such a formula of the camera settings. correct the exposure with ISO settings and shutter speed.  Also use histogram to know more about your image exposure.

Great Night pics guys

But...

I was taking video...or at least it was my main purpose. I had the histogram up and when I switched to photo the default settings presented an acceptable photo according to the histogram. Normally I would start with the auto settings then alter the settings in manual according to the circumstances, mostly noise reduction balanced against exposure requirements, and then bracket if the histogram did not look acceptable. The lights of the train station are blown and if it was the purpose of my shoot I would have bracketed that shot.. hope this helps.

Tim,
Nicely explained workflow. I noticed your white balance was on the cool side. I always start there with the process as I find the Phantom Camera tends to the cool side. Try moving the slider to a different setting before changing the colors. Or if you can find a neutral gray or white place use the eyedropper. Thanks for all the tips!

I'm using an Ipad to edit my night shots. The "Clarity" filter of the Camera + app is especially useful and so are the extra filter packs.

Detroit at night

Edit: You can zoom in...quite far...

Hi Tim, no it wasn't combined it was a single exposure using graduated ND. However I just realised this is posted in the P3 forum and it was shot on an Inspire, so I'll remove it. Sorry!
