Try to update the firsmare and it always just goes to a solid red light and fails.    What is going on!   

Hi Jerrad, may I know what's the current firmware?
Please format SD card, put the bin file into the root of SD card, then try again.
If still the same case, please check the upgrading log for us, here is the instruction:
1. Enable Viewing hidden files in your OS. Below are the websites where you can check how to show the hidden files in your PC. For The Windows System: http://windows.microsoft.com/en- ... den-files=windows-7 For The Mac System: http://ianlunn.co.uk/articles/qu ... mac-os-x-mavericks/
2.Enter the root directory of the SD card, then find the hidden folder MISC and enter it. There is LOG folder in it.
3.The LOG txt file is under the LOG folder.

When you upgrade again,Please check your gimbal LED light:

solid green ---finish upgrade
solid red    ---upgrade fail
green and red---upgrading

I have the exact same Problem on a Pro.
And when it crashed, all was still working and I looked at the Flight record to se that it flew going dows, It wanted to LAND period.
When it was on the ground, I still had video on the Ipad.  Only after update that I lost video.

Can they fix this  UPDATE issu ASAP because we're ALL grounded because of this.

Hi Jerrad, i checked the upgrading log, since the two modules for 08 and 15 failed to update, for this case, it needs to be send in and get it fixed by our engineers.
Please send an e-mail to support.us@dji.com who will guide you to send it in.

Sorry to read about your drone updating issues. But my goodness what a polite fellow you are!!
It's refreshing to read a post about a problematic drone, from someone who knows how to begin a conversation, ask questions, get a reply and politely follow instructions.
No anger, frustration shown, and narry a negative comment about DJI, or calling the drone derogatory descriptions. ;-)

I hope others with similar situations who read this post learn to follow the pattern and suit.
A friendly forum thread is so much easier to sympathize with and want to share help, compared to those harsh toned negative ones.

Thanks for taking the time to notice!   I just don't have time for negativity in my life so im pretty straight to the point!

Not sure if it helps, but I just got back from the local repair shop having the same problem, so I can at least finally shed a little light on this. I tried to update and got the same "Device not detected" error on devices 0800 and 1500. As much as I hate to be the bearer of bad news, the entire camera unit had to be replaced. I was hoping it would be the cheaper encoding chip, but nope, the whole camera had to be swapped.

Good news is that it's working perfectly now, but it definitely sucks that a bad firmware update killed a $350 part. If you can get DJI to cover it under warranty, then definitely do, but we were out of warranty unfortunately.

Best anyone at the shop could tell. Maybe not physically damaged, but bricked in some way. I suppose it's possible DJI may have a more in depth way of re-flashing it, but I can at least say swapping the camera unit did fix it.

That said, best I can tell from people posting about the same problem, it seems to be caused by jumping too many firmware versions. So my best suggestion (not that I'm an expert) if the units have older firmware is to update incrementally all the way up to current instead of going straight to current. DJI doesn't have more than a couple versions back on their site (which makes this problem all the more frustrating) but there are some other sites online that have archives.

I don't don't personally believe that problem is coming from jumping to many versions. Normal update/upgrade strategy is that the latest versions have the new features and corrections that the past ones did.

I don't know how DJI does it but it seems odd doing it any other way.
