Yupperz, always a good idea to read the manual, and watch the vids on youtube to give you a heads up
to what is going on with the Mavic, which is A LOT.

Also, just called State Farm Insurance and received a quote of $60 for 1 year of coverage.  So I have this in addition to the DJI Refresh policy which was $99.

Not sure I need both but seems prudent given the inaugural flight!

Sorry to read on the crash. Hopefully, the aircraft is not too wounded. Certainly consider any tutorial videos out there. You will be glad you did.

When I launched the drone the lights were flashing yellow/red.  I'm positive I shouldn't have powered up and launched anyway, but I did.

So a few seconds after take off it started moving towards a pond and wooded area.  I powered down immediately and it crashed into the trees in the picture.

Basically I did everything one could do wrong on my first flight!  It's my own fault but I was anxious to get it up in the air!!!

You might want to look around.  Most areas seem to charge that for it, but here, State Farm quoted $30/yr.  I figure it is a one and done deal anyway.  Make a claim and they'll pay it and then cancel.  Do consider liability also.

I had been reading on here and it seemed like most people were finding it for $60 so I just went with it.

Some states the min is 30.00 some are 60.00 I live in Oregon & it was 60.00 yr

Always always always make sure home point is updated before take off. U got lucky, I am happy for u. Beginners luck never lasts too long.don't let 5yr old fly drone - this is experience talking. Most important thing before take off is make sure home point is updated. Even after wathing tutorials which will help a lot, unexpected situations will occur and you will want yr drone in a safe place to take control of it when things go funny/ not so funny. Stay away from water till u get over the learning process,  good luck
