Hi there,

Got a obstical avoidence warning while flying my drone this evening and after checking out the video later on my computer it looks like I may have ran into something?

Any idea what happened?

It could have been a bird.

Okay well thats what I'm worried about, but would any piece of the gimbal actually come into view from the bottom of the field of view?

Immediately went back to the scene to try and see if there was any injured bird or whatever in the area but I couldn't find anything.

Yea, that's generally what happens when you hit something.

I've had birds attack my Mavic. This is why I fly VLOS and keep eyes on the quad more than on the screen.

So I'm thinking either
1) I hit a bird, both the drone and it were scared sh*tless but we both survived
2) I hit a bird, it fell to the ground injured, and in the time it took me to get there some bigger animal such as a racoon found it's dinner
3) I hit a bat, I'm kinda thinking this was it as it was very close to sunset, and he survied becuase bats are pretty badass
4) Maybe some sort of gimbal glitch
5) ufo?

Or a bird hit you.

Be careful there. A broken prop and you're falling to the ground.

I have no visual damage to the drone whatsoever that's why I am so confused. I hope the gimbal isn't all out of whack now. I will have to inspect tomorrow with a test flight

I'm sure it's probably fine. A bird whacking you probably wouldn't leave visible marking. The Mocking Birds down here are brutal, but small. A seagull might take you out of the air just by the sheer act of hitting you, though.

Birds are curious about our Mavic and they usually come closer to have a look. Big birds like Seagull are pretty dangerous.

If you were flying into the sun the obstacle avoidance may kick in, it happened to me when flying into the sun towards the evening.

Yes, happened to me for the first time over the weekend when flying in breezy wind, also pointing straight down. Saw the rear of the gimbal mount three or four times as the camera was buffeted backwards.

Wow. Sounds like a bit of bad luck there. Are you having any gimbal problems? Did you set up for a repair?

I think it's a dove. With an attack by seagulls I have experience.

its the sun. and i don't think that the op hit something. i guess thats the usual move if the ac is braking abrupt.
