Someone on another forum solved the mystery. They are soft landing adapters. Thanks for all the help.

I love a good mystery. ;-)

So the original owner has passed away, and taken the use of those two objects to the grave.

Perhaps you will never know, unless you take a moment out of your busy day, and experiment with them a little.
See if they can be attached securely to the sides of the landing gear.
Perhaps they would make excellent handles enabling a safer hand catch situation? Not sure, as they are totally unfamiliar to me.
Anyways, they may not even be for the drone, just thrown in the case, but not useable.

How big are they?

I suspect one could adapt a couple of pieces of foam pipe insulation of the appropriate size?  You can buy it at the hardware store.
