Hello, here I got an Edmonton attractions/sights 4K video, all shot with a drone. It seems, though, that not all clip transitions got exported and some are actually broken. So, I re-uploaded to this fixed version.

This little solo project of mine has been a LOT of work and more challenging than my cinematic drone tutorials up on Youtube! Everything in the project was very time-consuming. Drone videography is also just a hobby I picked up these past few months and being pretty amateur added to the time.

Edmonton is Canada’s Festival City, but I can’t fly my drone near crowds to capture the hundred or so festivals each year. I couldn’t wait for the big ones that are coming soon, plus I work a lot of weekends when these events are usually held. I look silly enough holding my drone out and shooting on the ground haha. There are also tons more things to do and see in the city, especially the bike trails, food, and winter activities.

I've only started with drones and videography early March this year, so any advice would be gladly taken! Thank you for watching!

Thanks! I use Premiere Pro. If you sign up as a student, you only pay $20 monthly for the Adobe Suite for a year haha

Yeap, it was a ton of planning just so I could drive to areas of the city efficiently without coming back or missing anything. Even planning where to park (for free) and where to fly safely/legally was a challenge. I won't get started on the editing haha

Thank you for checking it out!

Great job Raincast! Thanks for sharing! I'm spending time in Colorado in August. Would love to do something like this then but I might not be proficient enough so early in my drone flying

Flying away from where you live can quite tricky. Honestly, there might be times when you're rushing to fly and shoot. Or you won't actually enjoy your trip because all you're thinking about is getting enough clips. Plus there's the battery problem depending on how windy it is. Lastly, shooting in the city proper can be scary with the potential magnetic interference around.

However if you plan specific spots where you want to fly your drone by checking out Google Earth/Maps and writing them down, you can be pretty efficient with the clips you envision to shoot. Doing this Edmonton video was less pressure because I live in the city and if the weather isn't bad, I'll wait it out the next day.

I'm pretty amateur at this too, but I tried to look up travel vlogs for referencing haha

Sooo, I re-uploaded the video with the transitions fixed. It seems that Denoising broke them.

Holy crap, that silo at 2:39 is 2 blocks away from my house !!! I had no idea Edmonton is soooo colourful, haha ... It seems you charged your batts at least 100 times to gather so much material ... than a million of cuts and transitions ... Great advertisement for Alberta tourism industry!

A lot of my shots were done by just holding the drone. When drones are not flying, you can shoot at least an hour or two of video with one battery!

Haha I spent a lot of time actually planning before my drone went up in the air.  After all the planning so I don't have to drive to the same area of the city again, it took me 5 days to shoot over 260 clips and use around 160-170 of them. The editing was even more painful!

For the shots in the ground, you actually have a lot of shooting time with one battery if you just hold the drone (one or two hours even). It uses a lot of battery to stay still and fight the winds.

Thanks for watchin'!

Thanks for checking it out! I gather ideas from a lot of user drone videos too. I just don't have a DSLR so my drone does all the video.

Seriously, your videos will definitely benefit by controlling your urge to oversaturate. Trust me, been there, did that ... since Hi8 video format hit the market ... Keep up good work, my fellow Edmontonian ...

Your friend is giving you a bum steer; Flying here is no tougher than flying in Edmonton! The trick in both is picking your locations to do it legally

He told me there are city by-laws that won't let him fly anywhere in the city, including parks. He said it has something to do with the airport...

Great glimpse of Edmonton. You obviously had to spend a huge amount of time setting up each shot. I especially liked the guy walking backwards (1:40) transition. Nicely done.

Thank you for noticing that quick clip! I actually started the first 10 frames changing the scenery behind him, but I thought it seemed cooler if he was walking backwards. And, so I had to start from scratch again.

From planning to shooting to editing, it was quite a journey haha

Thank you for watching!

Hey, regarding the bylaws mentioned by my Calgarian friend, I did a quick search and it does exist.

Two city bylaws include
- Cannot operate a remote controlled aircraft in or over a park.
- Cannot operate a remote controlled aircraft on or over a street.

The link also shows the control zones with two airports in the area. That's pretty unfortunate!
