I have an Inspire 1 and the video signal was sketchy and dropped in and out.  Most recently the app could not acquire video signal until the Inspire was actually in flight and even then it would drop sporadically.  I presumed this was a firmware issue.  It was not.
I solved the issue completely and now have rock solid video signal.  I did this by removing the gimbal and the "nose" of the Inspire.  (Removing the nose requires removing the 4 visible hex screws and then two phillips type screws recessed on the bottom of the Inspire at the nose near the camera mount.)  I then cleaned the ribbon connections with alcohol.  There are two ribbons and I cleaned them both where these connect with the gimbal.  Immediately afterward video signal became rock solid.

I fly a lot near water and the ocean and my guess is the connectors slowly became slightly and imperceptibly corroded.

Maybe this will help someone else.

Cheers!
