I had my p4p auto land on a roof and before I could fetch it from the neighbor’s house it was rained on.   Once I retrieved it I tested it and it still connected, flew and transmitted images from the camera but gimbal was dead. Sent just the copter in for repair.  I admitted fault and was prepared to pay for the repair.  
What I wasn’t prepared for was the cost.

The gimbal and camera were 699USD
The aircraft excluding gimbal, camera, remote, battery, charger and props was 800 USD.  
Total 1499 for a replacement copter only that could be arefurbished unit.

I’m sorry but what?
I bought the whole package new for 1350USD

Am I missing something here?

Water damage is usually a write-off.

Even so, that price is just plain nuts. I will be interested to hear what DJI say about this.

We are sorry for the accident, usually the water damaged drone is unable to be repaired. There will be potential threats in the future flight.
For the sake of flight safety, we suggest to replace the water-damaged part. Apologize for the trouble caused.

I understand replacing the aircraft, camera and gimbal but I would have thought the cost would have been less as I’m not getting a replacement remote controller, charger and battery.
And I likely will be getting a refurbished aircraft.
Just very strange business practice if that price is correct.
