Few days ago I flew in open area, possibly as low signal polluted as possible and just after 20-30 meters I got "low signal" warning and after > 50-60 meters (height, straight above me) signal was lost, wifi disconnected, etc.. caught my spark just before it landed in the river...
I am using Samsung Galaxy s5.

What is wrong? Where is the range up to 1km? kidding, I know in Europe there as some power cut downs, etc, but at least 100-150m? Is there something I can do to extend the range, or I have to buy controller to make it fly more than 50m? It is for now biggest disappoinment..

It's a smartphone limitation. If you want more range you need remote controller. You're still getting more range with a smartphone than I am ;)

The problem is it flies only 50m in every direction, even horizontal after 20-30 meters I get "low signal"...

Have you tried some kind of wifi repeater? like xiaomi repeater (it is usb powered so it may be used with powerbank)..

Controller for me instead of purchasing multiple little may do the job devices. I know its extra cost but without a controller you may as well think of it as a Tiny-Whoop.

I don't see a point in doing this. I just ordered RC as it will add more to the experience than some more range with phone only.

I just ordered a controller because I couldn't get this to work with a wifi repeater like my other wifi drones, but I would prefer to use my phone and repeater if possible. I've found the range to be superior to the DJI controllers in my experience (even when using range extenders on the DJI remote).  

IMO the controller is the answer. It's also MUCH easier to fly with it.
