So I thought I would try running my Phantom 3 through a Nexus 7 tablet, rather than my old Sony phone which whilst it works well the screen is a bit small.
I bought a used Nexus, not too expensive, nad today tried to load the Go App, only to find I cant down load the app, according to paly store my device does not support this app.
I've seen plenty of other users using the Nexus 7 with good reports, the version of android is later than the version I'm using on my Sony.
Any Ideas out there?

I should add, if it is the original 2012 Nexus 7, it runs much faster with Android 4.4.  Mine became virtually unusable when it updated to v5.x.  I rolled mine back to 4.4.

Mine is a the 2012 model, so will look at rolling it back. I did manage to upload the apk file in the end outside of play store. Looks to be working ok so far, time will tell.

I flew using the nexus today. Much easier to see the screen. But running android 5.x its not flyable using the telemetry. Far too much lag. So for now I will resort to running through my Sony mobile. Rolling back looks like a real pain.

How do I roll back the Nexus 7?  I tried a reset and it took me back to 5.1.1.

The Nexus 7 Vers 2 .... commonly called the 2012 made by ASUS, can update to Android 6.0.1 ... but not further.

I run 6.0.1 and I have only the odd touch of Lag ... when I view other guys P3's with other tablets ... I see similar or even worse with iPad, Samsung etc.

The Nexus before Vers 2  is not compatible with the P3 ... and I have heard that the 2013 and later Nexus have some issues ... probably because of the varied factorys making them !!

mmmmmm DB ... sorry to disagree ...

I have in my hand a Nexus Vers 2 16Gb  - which is the commonly mistermed 2012. It is NOT the 2013 version.

It has BOTH front and rear camera ... the front camera is hard to see as its behind the screen glass ... if you have the ON / Off button as top left ... then the camera is about 1" directly below as a feint dot in the glass.
It works fine with my P3P.

If you do not have this - I suggest that you have an earlier than '2012' version - which I commented is not recc'd.

As I said earlier - the 2012 will only update up to 6.0.1 ... and no further. It is recc'd that you do not manually force update to later than that.

6.0.1 runs fine on mine ...

With ALL tab's ... its best to a) select Airplane mode 2) enable only the services that you need, 3) if you have both GO and Litchi installed - then Force stop BOTH ... leaving it to personal choice when starting up and it gives option of one or other.

I have DU Screen Recorder installed and it records screen fine while flying if you want ... without incurring processor problems.

Mystery solved ...

Original 2012 was indeed seriously limited and was updated to the vers 2. Initially with only improvements but later to spec that then translated over to the 2013.

The Vers 2 in fact represents 2 models - the last of the 2012 and the subsequent 2013.

On checking the specs and info on my Nexus Vers 2 16Gb - it turns out to be one of the 2012 change-over models that although still classified as a 2012 - in fact has same spec as a 2013.

Part of the reason for such muddle is Googles relaxation of factory contracting.

Late updated spec 2012 and the replacement 2013 :

battery 3950mAh
Twin Camera
16Gb / 32Gb fixed internal storage
2Gb RAM
Increased resolution screen.

I think one of the factors that helps confuse is the use of the markets unofficial tag lines 2012 and 2013 ...
