I live ib Cyprus and i am happily flying my spark. I had my more combo for nearly 2 months. As I read the flying range of it I wanted to try how far I can go. Unfortunately I cant fly higher than 90 m. (it is set to 500m) and I cant fly more than 300 m. I can see the Spark there is no obstacle in between but still I have my RC connection cut and it starts to return home. How can I correct this issue ?

first thing i have to ask, are you using the controller ?  do you use an OTG cable between phone/tablet  and controller?  if not that can cause interference having the phone/tablet chatting on the same singal..

second of all, you must have gotten your hands on the european model as well which has a seriously limited wifi output.. quarter of a watt vs most of the rest of the world gets half watt of power output..you should be able to get 300-400 meters assuming little interference.. and you are using controller with a cable connected to the phone and phone has its wifi disabled..

310m meters is best i've got, in a field near some woods. 2.4GHz, OTG cable, phone in airplane mode, good line of sight. One WIFI network in the area, low signal.
CE regulations sux.

Always suggested to fly safely.  You always need to make sure you are logged into the Go 4 App before beginning otherwise you may be limited on how high you can fly.

I'm in US, using otg, phone on airplane mode, LOS, but is disconnecting at 800 feet. So far reconnects without initiating rth. the spark is already very difficult to see at that distance.

One post is from cyprus and I guess they use EC regulations according to the signal strength. The video you mentioned is from a guy in the US and they use FCC signal strength. You can't compare them regarding range and it confuse people that didn't read about this and maybe they claim that their range is not "wide" enough.

Guess Canada use FCC as well ;)

So when we see an advertise of a drone telling about the max. range we should know the exceptions then. I was thinking to buy an Inspire 2 knowing that it has 7 km. distance range. Now I know it is useless to pay more than 3000 USD. if I would not be able to go more than 300 meters. Who would pay a drone 3000 USD. which would fly this short. ?

Each country has regulation in terms of the power of the transmission. The higher the power the further spark can go.. FCC is US reguratory body CE is eurpoe.

http://www.batteryspace.com/ul-ce-emc-fcc-and-csa.aspx

spark's power transmission for remote controller
2.4 GHz
FCC: ≤26 dBm; CE: ≤18 dBm; SRCC: ≤18 dBm; MIC: ≤18 dBm
5.8 GHz
FCC: ≤28 dBm; CE: ≤14 dBm; SRCC: ≤26 dBm; MIC: -

which translate to about
        2.412 - 2.462 GHz (unobstructed, free of interference)
FCC: 1.2 mi (2 km); CE: 0.3 mi (500 m)
SRRC: 0.3 mi (500 m); MIC: 0.3 mi (500 m)

5.745 - 5.825 GHz (unobstructed, free of interference)
FCC: 1.2 mi (2 km); CE: 0.18 mi (300 m)
SRRC: 0.7 mi (1.2 km); MIC: -

yes, you should know which standards your country recognize..
Based on inspire 2 specs site..

i guess there are some criterias that dictates the transmission's power (EIRP)

2.4 GHz:
FCC: 4.3 miles (7 km);
CE: 2.2 miles (3.5 km);
SRRC: 2.5 miles (4 km);
MIC: 2.5 miles (4 km);
5.8 GHz:
FCC: 4.3 miles (7 km);
CE: 1.2 miles (2 km);
SRRC: 3.1 miles (5 km);
MIC: - ;

HMMM. Then I think for a solution. Instead of buying the drone through internet its better to go to a country where it is FCC rules and buy the drone there and bring it back to my country.

It is nonsense !!!! All Sparks have identical HW for FCC and EU !!! Output power is automatically switched based on GPS position. I live in EU and my max flight is 1.5Km, look at flight record. Spark is not have any mod!!

Hello, I flight with OTG and AC/RC link is on 2.4Ghz. Very important is RC antenna aiming! You must aiming flat side of antenna to drone (not top of antenna).

I realized 2 things (from reading this forum). First, my 800 feet disconnect yesterday  was not strictly LOS - I was flying over a forest on undulating ground, and trying to fly close to the canopy top (more interesting video). So at 800 feet there were some tree-tops between me and ac, which compromised the wifi and led to the brief loss of connection. Today i flew  higher and did not lose connection even at 1200 feet. Also, i used pro guards which made the spark more visible.

Yes I know that. I have a Phantom3 pro as well. I learned to keep antenna perpendicular to drone. With PP 3 I go good range no prob.
