i dont know what insurance you can get in the UK.  but in the states.  i have personal property insurance though my insurance company..$50/year cover quadcopter use for me up to $1399, no deductible, and no limit, no refurbished units, no repairs just a check or a replacement unit. not  even direct proof of damage, i believe also includes theift, and covers all associated accessories up to $1399 for $50/year.  they mostly specialize in auto and home insurance...

for anyone in the states, check out to see if you can get a quote on coverage for your drone...state farm offers it via there personal property insurance.. and its extremely competitive..

ya, california is very anti drone i heard   which is weird considering many of the videos of drone users are in cali.....

here where i am, east coast in middle no effing where backcountry PA.  i didn't even have to prove i owned it.  the lady just added it to my existing policy, took my word for it, asked me types of coverage i want.. i said up to $1,500 complete.. she did math said $1399 complete is best deal.. and its total coverage!  only thing it doesn't cover is defects.. which i mean.. i can always throw it in my creek or hit it with a hammer if she wants to see it to prove it wasn't defect im claiming.

Yeah, I got that far with my agent.  She did all the math, and coverages.  It is when she called the underwriters to get approval, she found out they don't cover in CA.

Best I can do is use VeriFly.

I am considering a Spark but have been put off by the fly away losses reported on this forum. I do not want to see my money fly away over the horizon.

Therefore I have just spoken to my UK based House and Contents insurance provider "LV". They consider it a "personal possession"  providing you are not operating it commercially. All I have to do is register it with them under the personal possessions listed items on my policy once it is purchased. Technically I do not have to register it as a Spark is below the £1,500 limit on personal possessions but they said it makes a claim easier if it is known about before the incident. The only exclusion to this is if it is lost due to a manufacturing fault including programming by the manufacturer which may be an issue if these are true fly-aways rather than user error.

Thank you for the info, do you know any UK insurance for damages caused by the drone? If during the flyaway or due to my error drone will hit someone or something then I would like to be insured instead of paying someone for the rest of my life.

That's what fpv uk covers, it doesn't cover loss of drone, just third part liability for £15 a year. Gone up to £20!

I looked to see if my home owners policy covered my drones, and my agent reviewed my policy and found an exclusion for aircraft.  Technically, the spark and phantoms fit the FAA definition of aircraft, so we concluded that I was not covered.  Of course, not being a lawyer or a contract specialist, I could be entirely wrong.
