Today weather permitted me to test the "Dronie".

I'm using a Galaxy S7 Edge connected to the RC (latest firmware).  App is 4.1.4 (I found the update to 4.1.5 AFTER I got home from testing).  Spark is on latest firmware.  Battery is on latest firmware.

Attached is the zipped flight log of my Dronie efforts.  I made two Dronie attempts.  In both cases the dronie flew backwards and elevated insignificantly.

Let me know if other information is desired or required to analyze this.  I personally don't have any concerns that the dronie doesn't work correctly, but I know others do and I'd like to see the product improve.

I tested dronie with mine and it worked nicely. Palm launched, switched to normal mode, then started dronie. It elevated about 8m (26ft) from palm launch height and distance about 45m. Then it returned. I havent test it again, but if i got the chance, ill get the logs n post it here.

Actually, we had optimized this function in the latest V 01.00.0500. Please help to confirm that you had upgraded to the latest firmware version with +/- behind the version's name.
You can check the version by this way: power on the drone, RC, app and enter device---upper right icon---general----about.
Also, please try to fly the drone above 2 meters first then use the Dronie Mode to see will it gain altitude.

DJI Thor,

I tried the "Dronie" today, following the instructions in the video.  My equipment is Galaxy S7 Edge, running 4.1.5 version of app, connected using OTG.  All equipment has latest firmware.  I preserved the logs if they are desired.

I went into "quickshot" mode, I drew a rectangle around myself, I selected the "Dronie" icon (which is selected by default, but I manually selected it), and I selected a distance under 20 meters (in somewhat tight spaces today).  I then selected "go".

My logs show that the Dronie went back 60 feet (I cancelled the Dronie manually).  In that 60 feet of distance, elevation increase was 4 feet.  That indicates an angle in rise of 3.8 degrees (not 45 degrees).

At least for me, it appears that the "Dronie" is still not working.

My test - all updated.

That is how my Dronie behaved.  Pretty much just backwards, very little "up".

Seems yours did there, but I had to watch twice to be sure it did rise a little.  Testing by DJI would be quite extensive I would think, so if a small percentage failed in testing they shouldn't release it.  I assume 100% passed in test, so we have to wonder how many they tested.

I did two takes. One 20m and one 40m. On Both of them it did as advertised. Funny thing is that  it was before the "fix". So on 4.1.4 but yes it is weird that they can't get it to work on all drones.
Edit: sorry got it confused 4.1.4 was "the fix" ;)

Yes, "Dronie" is not a feature I'm vested in.  Easy enough to manually perform a similar shot.  But I would like to help out DJI resolve this as other customers do value the "Dronie".

Mine exactly the same, don't really care left stick up right stick down manual dronie.

This , better to learn the manual ways. Sort like knowing the knowledge to drive a manual car even though you can drive an auto car. Auto car is convenient but manual give you more control. You can make dronie, into advanced "dronie" by controlling the camera more

Lets say I set it at 10m is that going to be the total distance from me or it will go 10 meters and then up at 45 degrees?

Yeah, I've noticed the same behavior in the Droine shot.   I've tested it twice so far and never noticed much of a rise above the initial altitude.  As stated above, I'm not married to the Dronie Shot, so not a big deal for me.  For others it may be.

There's a lot of functionality that I don't care about, never-the-less I'd like to help investigate and resolve these issues.

Dronie.  Wifi stability (I use otg, but this is a biggie).  Gestures (It's super cool, and I love to show it off, but it hardly ever works for me).
