I have a phantom 4 (basic) which I have just uograded the controller and the Phantom to the latest firmware.  The phantom seems to fly OK but the rear LEDs are flashing 6 fast flashes green followed by two slow flashes red ?   Does anybody know why this is please.  I have spoken to DJI online chat but they dont know why this is.  DJI wrote the software so you would thinknthey would know :-)  . . . .   I have browsed the forum and seen other LED issues, but not the same as mine.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  

It doesn't appear to be any of the usual status sequences.

Are you anywhere near an NFZ or restricted air space when you're seeing this ?

The phantom reports that I am in a 'catagory D' airspace and I should fly with caution.   And I am appx quarter of a mile from a Prison.  Its a very public playing field and I have flown the phantom 4 there for the last year and a phantom 2 there for two years.   This did occur to me as a possible explanation and I mention it to DJI chat but it brought no response..

Page 55 of manual about three quarters of the way down , describes a light sequence similar to what you see when flying in a safety zone.


This is a good guide to have as well in UK http://dronesafe.uk/


The App' works well and gives good detail of hazards round about as well, including buildings, pylons etc.

I would recommend you to check whether you fly in restricted area: http://www.dji.com/flysafe/no-fly. If the issue remains in another location, please PM me your DJI account and upload the flight records, I'd like to look into it.

The phantom warns that I am in a catagory D area and to fly with caution.  Also it is about half a mile from a prison.  It is a public playing field and I have flown the phanton 4 there for the last year and a phantom 2 for the year before that.  I thought this might be in issue so I mentioned it to DJI chat who didn't seem to know.

Issue solved, I think.  I have just taken it for 2 quick flights.  One in my usual training field which is 0.6 miles from a prison (HMP Buckley Hall in Rochdale UK) and another 2/3 miles further away.  I have the LED issue when near the Prison but not when further away.   I have always checked for restricted zones using NATS etc and http://www.dji.com/flysafe/no-fly  both of which agree I am not in a restricted zone although the phantom does say I am in a restricted zone (not Near a restricted zone)  Anyway all that matters is that the Phantom is AOK and good to go :-)  Thanks for all the comments and advice and I welcome any more.
