furthest i gotten was just around 1 mile. i haven't tested water, just my farm. but most of my flights are around 2,000 - 4,000 feet. most my flights are occurring in city outskirts and suburbs.
just side note, trees suck.. they seem to be biggest killer of signal i encountered yet, and i have flow my spark around highly congested wifi areas, but at my farm if i go wrong way and cross into the deep backwoods, i lose signal within 500-750 feet easily. even at near 400 AGL and well above the trees. but across modern landscape it doesn't matter, i dont know how to explain it.
Yes, trees do suck big time. At least I'm not the only one who has noticed this. I live in mountainous area (small 2000-4000 feet) and as soon as a tree line gets between the Spark and the RC the signal drops substantially. I can only go a few hundred feet if I fly just above the tree line. For longer distances I have to climb to at least 500 - 1000 feet AGL just to go 1500 - 2000 feet. |
