I am traveling to Amsterdam in late September and will be there for a few days.  I know we have some drone pilots from The Netherlands that peruse this forum and occasionally leave us with a few nice videos.  So I was hoping to get some advice on good locations within a short day trip train ride away from Amsterdam Centraal.  One thought I had was to take a train out to somewhere in the countryside, rent a bike (or just hike) and get some video of the Dutch countryside.

I know some locations are off limits.  And I know there are rules published.  But I just want to try and find an easy excursion that will get me out into the open spaces where I can take some aerial videos of the Dutch landscape.

I visit Holland regularly, so I am familiar with several of the urban centers, and traveled around enough to have seen how beautiful the countryside is.  Now I just want to pinpoint something easy to travel to that offers flying opportunities that don't conflict with rules.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can respond with some useful information.....

Don't repeat my mistake of only finding out that in NL "don't fly near airports" translates to "don't fly within ~13.5 km of any airport bigger than a strip of grass". See the official map of no-fly zones here: https://kadata.kadaster.nl/dronekaart/

Hello there.

Pardon my ignorant. Could you (or any kind sole) kindly help to elaborate the "beperkt toegestaan" (Translation: limited) areas? Those in red diamond tiles? Thank you.

Looks like a good suggestion.  Less than an hour train ride from Amsterdam Centraal and outside of any no-fly zone.

I found the one windmill along the gracht.  This would be within walking distance.  Are there more to look for that would be further out and require a bicycle?

Take the train to Leiden.and get yourself a bike.
Then bike through Leiderdorp towards Hoogmade.
Make some shots there and hop on your bike to towards de Zijldijk near Leiderdorp.
A lot of watersport activity there and mills cows etc etc
Take the boat ferry to Warmond and return to the trainstation.

Thank you for the detailed route.  Works well for my itinerary.  Short train ride with access to countryside and waterways.

Please offer more if you know of other similar excursions.

September is a beautiful time of year in Holland.  Hoping I get a nice stretch of sunny weather.......
