Does the Spark need to be turned on to get files off of it?

When the spark is hooked up to the computer does it have to be turned on the whole time to grab the files off of it?

yes, However you can just remove the memory card and if you have a card reader go that way.

I just pull the Micro SD and load direct to computer.
That way I can review my shots and then delete / wipe the card without using batteries.

I have been using DSLR's for many years and have found that for maximum dependability it is advisable to format your memory card often.

I would recommend you to turn on the aircraft when connect it with PC.

The sd doesn't work in my computer so the only way is to turn on the drone and connect it to my mac

You could use a 32GB instead of a 64GB SD

It's not the size of the sd card, for some reason it won't allow me to upload the files through the sd itself

I only thought about the "max 32 GB if use on mac" hint from the Spark-Manual.
Could have been a quick solution.
