  Just to verify, the phone is connected to the RC via WiFi, right? What mobile device are you using? What is the APP version and what is the firmware version of the drone? Please export the black box data via DJI Assistant 2 for analysis.

i'm using iPhone 7+
app+RC+drone are all on the latest frimware.

i don't know how to use the DJI Assitatnt to get the blackbox

I have actually the same issue. After firmware refresh I could do the switch to 2,4 from 5,8 and now I cant change it. If blackbox helps, I'm gonna upload it somwhere.
I have latest firmware V01.00.050 in my spark.

Could you please provide a short video about this issue for better assistance? Besides, your phone is connected to the RC via WiFi, right?  Please also export the black box data, then upload them to the Dropbox, post a link here.

I'm using OTG cable to connect my phone with RC. I can make only a picture to show you that.
Basically the top symbol displaying strength and freq 2.4 / 5.8 is light gray and there's no freq and no signal strength. Just like the first image in the first post. I'm gonna attach it later. Thanks in advance.

It is not recommended to use OTG cable to connect your phone, it hasn't been fully tested. Please connect your phone to RC via WiFi, see if it is working properly.

tried with wifi and RC at the same place i always try, and i got on 75M at 20M before it got disconnected.
With the OTG cable i go 120M at the same place...

So what is wrong with it? it say 1.2mile and i get 0.1mile!

Hello, I have the same issue - can't see wifi channels strength and can't change from 2.4 to 5.8 when using remote. Problem is on galaxy s8 with all the latest firmwares.

If you are connecting the remote to your mobile with a cable you will not see it or be able to change it.

I am pretty much having the same issue, I tried Wifi to RC and the distance I can get from home is severely reduced. If I use OTG cable my distance from Home is increased but back to the topic at hand regardless if I use OTG to RC or Wifi to RC I cannot change the channels or use different frequency. I have not tied just using phone to spark with WiFi ... not sure what the point would be to test that as I bought the combo with the controller for a reason.

actually I can't change the frequency of the RC even when is paired to smartphone by WiFi: in fact, if I set the frequency to 2.4 GHz the wireless network of the RC disappears and I can't find it anymore on my smartphone. (the only solution is to reboot the RC)

Could you please try the steps below?
1. Enable the mobile network on your phone, open the DJI GO 4 APP, wait for 1 minute;
2. Shut down the DJI GO 4, power on the RC and the drone;
3. Connect your phone to the RC via WiFi, then open the DJI GO 4, go to the FPV page. Wait for a moment, see if you can see the prompt in the pic below,  click on "OK" if you see it.

Check the Wifi channels and the Channel mode when your phone is connected to the RC via WiFi, For the distance issue, please try to fly the drone in different open areas, and try to adjust the antennas during the flight.

Still no 5.8 G? Is the WiFi Settings page the same as you the screenshot you posted before? If not, please post a new one. That is little strange, I’ll ask our engineers to review it. Just to verify, where are you located, Israel?

i don't have 5.8 in ISREAL.
and yes. that's a new pic

I guess I have the same issue except if I use my android tablet it connects only with 5.8 and if I use my iphone 7 it connects with 2.4. Neither can be changed and neither show the channels bars.
Connecting with wifi or OTG dosent change anything.
After upgrade today I seem to getting a lot of video break-up. Perhaps just coincidence.

Well, there are actually two problems. The first one is that if you connect the RC to your phone via the OTG cable you won't see the channels. It is a well known problem that DJI never solved (as well as official OTG support ...). If you disconnect the cable, you should see them again.

The second problem you face is that in Israel, the 5.8 GHz band is reserved for military and therefore you shouldn't use it at all (which is impossible without the OTG cable as you cannot use the 2,4GHz for both the phone-RC and RC-Spark connections at the same time ;) ).
