Received my 5.5 inch crystal sky on Monday, it looks like it gives my the option to roll back my phantom 4 firmware to one of the last 3. I'll check to see if it gives me more options

Cool. What's the version of DJI GO on it?

I am looking to purchase CrystalSky... can't work out ATM whether the CrysalSky connects to Phantom 3 via 1) cable integrated into the mounting bracket or 2) a separate cable.  Can anyone clarify.

The bracket comes with the USB c cable. Your don't need another one

Yup, you can use the quick disconnect mount that DJI offers or there are many aftermarket mounts for both the Phantom series, Mavic/Spark & Inspire
You can hook up either by the "C" or a regular Data Cable to the micro usb on the side of the CS, been using the 5.5" for a month now both P3P & Mavic, works great, no app crashes so far, nice bright screen with virtually no glare in bright sun.
