Hi Guys, I'm a complete novice and hope you could point me in the right direction.
I'm looking to purchase a spare battery for my new Phantom 4,
What's the difference between an intelligent battery or a spare battery other than the £50 or so.
Thanks in advance

I would stick with the DJI batteries, not worth risking whole aircraft to save a few pounds. Besides, as of a few builds ago, I believe non DJI batteries will be rejected by the aircrafts firmware.

Agree with Aardvark, I would recommend you purchase the battery from a DJI authorized retail store.

What's the difference between what and what else?
You've asked some sort of question but what you are asking isn't clear.
And don't worry about non-DJI batteries as no non-DJI batteries for a P4 have ever been seen.

Thanks very much for the advice,  I will purchase the intelligent one,
Maplins have them both on their online shop, it does not say that the spare battery is not from DJI

Maplins is a reputable supplier, whatever they sell will be OK. It is likely that the description alone is different. Now for the P4 there were two batteries produced, the earlier lower capacity one which was introduced with the P4, and the later Higher capacity battery (about 10% more storage) introduced with the P4 Pro. Now either can be used on any of the P4, P4 Pro and P4 Advanced range. Both are 'intelligent' batteries in as much as they have programmable chips in them.

Sorry Labroids if not clear, but my question was, in Maplins they advertise 2 different batteries for the P4.
1. A spare battery priced at £139.99
2. An intelligent battery priced at £172
I was just asking what the difference was  and if the cheaper one was ok to use ?

There are two possible batteries for a P4.
The original P4 battery has a capacity of 5350 milliamphours
The original P4 pro battery has a slightly larger capacity at 5870mah.
Both are "intelligent" batteries.
The extra 10% capacity is only good for a couple of minutes flight time.
You can use any P4 series battery in any P4 series drone.
The slightly smaller battery is usually the most cost-effective one.

Just received my spare Battery from Maplins, paid for the cheaper one at £140 for the 5350 mah,
But they sent me the more expensive 5870 mah battery for the same price.
