I just had a compass and imu error while flying. I don't get how the compass fails at such altitude.  I wasn't near any structure or anything.

I just calibrated the compass once before my first flight and haven't calibrated again and I never had this kind of error before.

I was able to bring the bird back without GPS assistance. But I'm really scare to fly again.

KP is 5 today. Could that be the reason? Is it too high to fly?

It could have an effect , but you were flying over very built area so it's always possible to get magnetic interference, gps did return after a short time leads me to believe you had interference in the air and not on the ground before take off, well done on your recovery.
