Yesterday the new rules for flying with drones in Belgian airspace were announced in local media (radio, newspapers, tv en the internet).
Two different kind of users are specified. each of them with their own law.
Professional users :
take part in a medical an theoritical examination regarding aviation rules. To keep this certification you need to fly at least 2 hours each year.
Maximum flight altitude = 300 ft=90mtrs
If you want to fly over crowds your drone had to be registered.
If you want to fly higher you need to ask a special permit. These are just the highlights. The rules are a bit more complicate.
But I think this will work, these rules aren't the harsh, only the 90mtr altitude limit bothers me. At least people know what to do to get their license.

Non-professional users :
Can only fly on private property and to a maximum altitude of 100 ft=30mtrs.
In general this mean you can kiss your drone farewell !!

The only thing you can do is to get a license. I wonder how much that's gonna cost. So far there was only one place to take these courses at a price of € 2.500 !!

Wow that is expensive.  But only two hours per year minimum?  That seems kind of low for something requiring a license.  The 100 ft. altitude limit is almost useless.  How are they going to enforce this?  Any mention of the consequences if you don't comply?

Maybe, we're alowed to fligh it up to 10 km if there was a rope atached to our dji's, you could stop it from crashing in to things hahah

These people out belgium did it xp!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFNEr-UzxMo They strapped a go pro to a helium balloon and flew around in the middle of the center of antwerp... even in the train station!  but yesss they got a lot of attention

Pretty soon the only way is to shoot guerilla style. That's why the new Mavic copter is so handy. Go up, shoot, come down, fold up, gone.

Yeah, could be true. We will see.

Hence the drone police? Laws must be enforceable, kinda like prohibition.

Hi Guys,

I'm studying for my lic. in Belgium. And I came across this topic.

Professional users always need a lic!

non-professional users:
These rules are wrong ! you can only fly on private property op to 10m with a drone MTOW below 1Kg
everything above or more heavy you need a lic.

Correct :  Max 1,00kg and 10 meters on private property .

You need a licence Class 2 : Up to 5KG MTOW and 150ft  AGLt  VLOS. Not allowed to flight in  CTR.

Class 1a, 1b    up to 150kg and 300ft AGL.  For 1a (High risc te rpas need to be homologated)

For A class 1 you need to sacrifice +/-  5000,00 €

this is getting ridiculous so everyone that has spent mega bucks on there drones
are getting penalised. then there drones selling wise are not worth a penny or a cent
when selling them!!!
what the hell is wrong with this world bureaucracy gone mad
i have 3 drones so think i might as well sell them now before they bring stupid laws
like this to the UK, and this then ends a hobby i enjoyed  is this the reason i ask myself why so many are for sale on ebay  etc
