If you look carefully at the video you can see a spot light beaming from the drone.

That's some good stuff there!!
Our hobby needs way more of this positive exposure!
There is way to much negative reporting going on by the media on our "drones" because we are "spying" on everyone!
We need to strap on some goggles to these people that are so against our hobby and take them on a flight with us to see what things look like from a birds point of view and see if they still dislike our hobby!

Good to see positive news for a change. This news story was on local and national news this morning. About time the news organizations got their head out of their rears and showed something positive about them.

That was an interesting day for me.  Two separate rescues and the Inspire1 used in two different ways in each.

That is very good to see.      Awesome freakn shots by the way.      I know that wasn't what he was going for but still..   happy to be part of a community of people really willing to put it on the line and save the day.           Awesome!

That was me and my Inspire1 with the Joshua Fire Department.  I took the video of the hovercraft going in for the extraction after finding the sinking truck.  The truck had been swept away about 750 feet from the road.

Do you have a spotlight on the Inspire? If so can you post some pics to show how it's rigged?

Thanks

Yes, I did.  30 to 40 minutes in moderate rain.  It performed remarkably well without any problems and zero damage.  Not the ideal flying environment but when lives are on the line, there are risks worth taking.  A machine can be replaced but human lives cannot.

If you study how the Inspire1 is put together, it's very well suited for light to moderate rain activity.  The ESCs are enclosed, all of the electronics are behind fuselage cowlings, etc.  Post inspection -- there was no accumulation of rain on any electronic components.  The bird has about 5 hours of flight after that incident (including 2 emergencies) and zero problems.

Very good to hear. Stories about people like you using the bird for good is what the FAA should be hearing and the news should be reporting.

Thanks.  Yes, I agree.  Some more good news -- I have been contacted by several fire stations from Texas, to New York and many in-between.  It sounds like the media coverage has opened many eyes that these can be used to help save lives.  I hope to hear even more about these machines being used to help save people soon.

We have a thermal camera that we attach to the Inspire1 for evaluating hot spots on structure fires and brush fires.  This is a test using some neighbors and vehicles.  Fast forward to about 30 seconds into the video.

You might also be interested in this... we have added an aerial delivery system.  It has been fully tested to deliver a full life vest.  This is a video of the 2nd test (prior to the life jacket).  We used a seat cushion to emulate the life vest and deliver it to a mock victim.  We can use this to deliver a life vest, a 2-way radio for stranded victims and a multitude of other objects to help people.

Ok neighbor, that looks very cool. Nice mount setup with the picatinny short rail and the shotgun light. Did you put any ballast forward to counter the weight of the light? What did you rig up to drop the PFD? Again, pics if possible.

I used mine in hard rain a few weeks ago, we had a nursing home lock down unit resident escape. Used it to search a bunch of areas that weren't easy to do by foot. Luckily he was finally found somewhere that I didn't search. Like you, I had zero problem with the rain.

I would LOVE to have a FLIR 640 or similar. Somewhere on DJI's materials I actually saw a mention of one in development to fit the gimbal, let's hope.

Anything else cool up your sleeve? I might need to hop up there and see this thing for myself!
