Just installed the new firmware that allows the SDK to function correctly. DJI version V01.02.02.17 See below changes: So got the new App for testing and this will be going on this weekend for all of us. The App connected to my inspire without any problems and let me tell you that I have been reading the tutorial to get up to speed.

Also got the email - just considering whether to jump in or not.
Looking through the flight school, I'm not sure if the features they are offering are what I'm actually after.

I'd like orbit mode - but I don't see myself using the other modes that often.
I was hoping to see waypoints and Nav - but these aren't in the app yet.

Might just wait more and see the DJI result when the Beta is done.

I would like to try orbit, hover, blackbox and Zipline. I frankly would rather have these features all in the pilot app. The AutoFlight Logic app can not run with anything else in the background.

Agree I am a bit nervous, but I want to try it... Reading all of the instructions (lots of them) and will be giving it a go.

I got it too, but it says they insist on feedback by tomorrow (26th) or possibly get bumped!  Only got it last night, and weather for tomorrow is a very poor forecast. Looks like its rush it today, or don't bother.

All seems a bit hasty!

Was going to instal it on my spare I1 (just in case, so my main machine is still avaiable for use), but realy feel effectively '1 day' is a bit of a bonkers time frame for something like this.

Wow! Short time period to allow for thorough testing.  I would be hesitant as well.  Beta software always has some glitch and to use beta firmware on a $2,400 piece of hardware...

Hi Rich, if I may ask, how did you upgrade to the beta software inspire and remote  ? I have downloaded the bin file and copied it as usual to the micro sd card and placed it in the inspire , but it does not seem to trigger the self installing. did you update aircraft first and then remote  or what?
did you leave the remote on and connected with ipad? Is there anywhere I can follow /see the update process ??

actually working now.. it si self updating. lets see ! thanks anyway!

Tried a a few flights .. (sofar only in camera automatic transmitter focusing /follow mode) and seems to work well !

Read the tutorial inside the app when it is running. Lots of information to read for each feature. It takes you step by step.

I have my batteries charged and will be making some check today and try out the simple hover task first.

It looks like you got it going. For me the firmware update is just like before and updated both remotes and the inspire. It does not appear to have a change for the battery, so you do not need to update all your batteries.

Had no problems with the firmware update, the inspire took about 15mins and each motor LED turned on red (one at a time) as it was programing. The Inspire tail LED turns to RED upon completion of the update and gives you the closing tone beeps.

Good Day

Good Day I installed the App and the orbit mode works flawlessly. BUT, the app needs to be explained via video it is very heavy with settings. Until then am reading the Flight School instructions over n over until I get understand. Am uploading the orbit video, I'll supply the link shortly.

I had a project the past two days. So, I'm installing firmware now. I hope I can just change the bin file back to the original and delete the text files if needed to go back to the original version without the sdk if this doesn't turn out well. So, I can't even have the DJI open on the ipad at all while using this huh? It would be nice to know if all hell brakes loose that I can just switch to P and open the DJI app to get back to what I'm used to doing. I'm excited to do this. I don't remember seeing a failsafe mode. What if something goes wrong can we set it to climb to whatever safe altitude and then have it come home?

Rich- You rock for starting this thread. Lets all try to post here and just keep it going and hopefully the AutoPilot guys can post as well. They have honestly been nothing but forthcoming about the entire process. I hope since DJI approved this they won't kill this thread and even add some input for us all.

Yup, this is pretty fun so far. I will report more tomorrow and some screen shots if I can.
If you have trouble with this program, just switch the remote back to GPS mode because this app runs while switched in F mode. So far so good. This will disengage the route, or the button. The dashboard has the map and camera views and everything else you need.

By the way, I do not believe you will be able to go back to the previous firmware after the testing. DJI will be coming out with the new firmware release I'm sure.

Keep posting once you have some results

I too have been testing, not to much so far as the instructions.. are long and it takes time to understand them. I can only operate in F mode, and have only had time to test orbit which appears to be working well. One day is not enough time to test all the functionality.

I have tried it and so far have done Hover, Orbit, and Focus.  There is no risk as all you have to do is switch from F to P on your radio and the Inspire will stop and hold position.  Now you can just fly it yourself and land.

Thank you guys for uploading video.  I think I will install my beta firmware now.  I was a little hesitant as I DO NOT want anything to happen to my bird. I make money with it!  Now I will go out and see how it works for me.

I tested the Orbit mode and it seemed to speed up and go much faster towards the second half of the orbit. I think I see the same thing on BahamaSky around the 27 second mark. Anyone else notice this?

Couldn't try out the orbit mode.... far to windy this weekend. Check out my hover then Zipline test. This was about 280 feet and the camera was on manual so as it was flying up I could change the view.

So, I checked out focus, hover and zipline. I found the instructions to be long and I was very nervous during the test. Everything worked fine for me. Just need more time to familiarize myself with the program.

yes it sems to be a mixture of follow and lead mode.. but may be by playing with the settings  (bearing angles etc) you can decide if it is more follow or lead. Or may be future versions will allow a more fine tune of what exactly you want to achieve.

I thought that DJI was going to restrict  all contact and communications about the update until it is released.  But if you are going to start a thread and cover points here are my initial questions :

Can any of you guys confirm if there are facilities for waypoint programming on grid patterns and the ability to record still images every 2 seconds during automated flights.  If these basic features are not going to be offered within the app, it will be one of most hyped up Apps ever to be promised and not delivered.

I was also in for  the beta test, but had to drop out due to traveling. Now I wish you testers all luck and I am reading your reports every day

No I am certain one of the covenants to being accepted as a Beta Tester for the Autoflight app was that you had to give frequent reports and logs back to DJI and not to discuss any issues with anyone.  Perhaps others who have accepted the Beta Testing can confirm.  Either way I am not particularly bothered.  If a thread has been created by members I think it is fair and reasonable for open discussion by members especially given that most of the Beta Testers are long term if not founding members of the forum.
I would just like to know what features will be provided and what will not be provided.  This is surely a fair question even fro DJI to answer as they must know at this stage what is to be provided in the final app.

I am accepted as a beta tester for the Autologic  Autoflight 2.0 beta app - and they set no restriction on what to publish from the testing and I am not to report  to DJI as this is NOT a DJI app or testing program. But that aside - I dropped out of the testing due to traveling and now just follow the testing results on various forums

Beta testers are just that - testers. They provide feedback to the decision makers. The decision makers then decide if something is ready for live use. Some or all the testing may be scrapped and a rewrite may occur and another round of beta testing may occur. Until all testing is done and the decision is made there is no telling what may be released for live use. The beta tester could at most let you know what is being tested, but then would be in violation of any non disclosure agreement.

It may be a fair question, just don't expect an answer.

No mate, there isn't a NDA for this beta test, it's a completely different product and vendor from DJI and the beta testing of the new firmware.

Unfortunately no waypoints or Nav, but some cool camera functions and orbit mode however.

Hey GB

This is not the DJI beta test and is a separate third party App supplier. They did not put limitations on us like DJI did for their beta testing.

So far it has gone pretty smoothly, but I have had really windy weather and now it is going to be really Hot 109*F
