Found some images from Chinese dji forum...the new inspire 1 pro uses new 3510H motors and new propellers, which provided more power. The flight time of new pro with TB48 is around 14mins (100% to 26%) if I remember correctly, since the thread got deleted so no image proof, wish I can save that images. The new X5 is 300g+ heavir then the X3.

The only difference is the locking mechanism...The motors and props are the same.

I wish the current 3510 motors can increase KV via software upgrade to handle the new X5

Has anyone tried to upgrade the motors? The 3510s are equivalent to the E800 motors, I figured someone would have tried to squeeze the 1200 or 1200 Pro motors o their just for braggin rights. I know we got some braggers on here.

Why? I honestly cant feel a real difference from an I1 versus an I1 pro carrying a x5.

Bladestrike,

If as a Beta tester you couldn't feel a difference in their performance, then do you have any idea as to why DJI went and added a beefier motor to the Pro1?

Progression of the power system, like on all their craft.

I don't know enough about the hobby to make any good points here except the the E800 motors have 3510 printed on them... I just assumed that a model reference.

maybe more battery life? and more power to stable in the wind?

3510 refers to the stator size on the motor: 35 x 10mm. Most motor product model numbers directly reference the motor size for clarity. KV numbers are also given seperately to indicate motor performance and are often used to delineate versions of the same size motors.

The E800 3510 motors are 350 KV so if Bladestrike is saying there is a difference on the I1 Pro that's interesting (more rotational speed per volt).

What I'm curious about is if DJI is going to make this (yet again) new locking system available to aftermarket upgrades. The QR prop locks have been fine for me but they're the component of the Inspire 1 that I think is the highest liklihood of failure right now and as such I check my QR's pretty compulsively.

So I wonder if the Inspire1 can be upgraded in the future with the bigger motor from the Inspire Pro.  Would seem to make sense to upgrade if at any time in the future you needed to swap out or replace the engines.  For example if using in a sandy environment e.g. UAE where sand can get into the motors very quickly and reduce the engine life.  I have heard of Operators simply replacing the engines frequently on some of the larger DJI Platforms in these geographical areas.

Then I suppose if you are still using the original camera x3 this may increase flight times possibly.

Actually, assuming the same input voltage of 6s, same size motor and props, a higher KV motor simply increases payload capacity by offering higher RPM at the expense of flight time. Lower KV motors pull less current at the same load.

The only way a higher KV motor would ever likely yield a flight time increase is if the its replacing a motor that was hovering at an rpm outside its most efficient range of 45%-55% throttle. In other words if the original I1 motors were hovering at 75% throttle they'd produce more heat while providing limited reserve power. The next size up motor could then be a better choice. However, I don't see that being the case in the I1 with x5 and stock motors. It flies perfectly fine and has great duration. I wouldn't want to sacrifice flight time for 15% more power. If anything, I'd like to see if an option exists to increase flight time and power with a more efficient design / firmware.

Agreed.

The Inspire 1 has more than enough power, we just need to extend the flight time wherever possible.

Yes as long as you change both the esc an motor to the 3510h on all 4 it can be upgraded

I just swapped one motor on my "old" Inspire 1 - the motor was getting a bit tight and get warmer than the others. Was thinking of buying 4 motors 3510H - but that would set me back about 400 Euro - not worth it IMO
