Most of you by now have noticed the new Inspire 1 Pro with X5 camera kit. As a Inspire 1 owner I for one am interested in the new QR prop system!
DJI Question:

When will the new style 1345T quick release prop system be available for the Inspire 1 owners?

1) Will this work with the original Inspire 1 motors? The new I1 Pro motors are 3510H series and really do not know what the differences are to date.
2) Is the motor KV size the same?
3) What will the normal life cycle be on these new props (run time before changing)?
4) Will these be available with colored tips and in sets of four with mounts?
5) Release date?

I am not having any trouble with my QR props and they are checked and maintained every flight. I must admit though, this new prop system looks to be mechanically improved and this is a welcome sight.

Thanks for you comments and help

Rich, just seen your thread after I posted a thread on the new prop mounting system.  Sorry for doubling up on your thread.  I was going to delete it after reading yours but thought it may just ensure someone from DJI notices our feedback.

I agree though the new third generation prop mounts look a great improvement.  My only worry is how secure the props are when twisting the lock just in case any vibrations may unlock the prop.  I am sure DJI have tested this, but just curious as to how secure the lock on it is.

I too also endorse your comments regarding the 2nd Generation Quick Release props in that I have had absolutely no trouble with these and find them real easy to mount the props and the 3rd generation look just as easy to mount - great work from DJI.

Haha, I've only just replied to GB44's thread. I've played with the Inspire 1 Pro at a recent DJI exhibition and asked the reps if it'd work with a current Inspire 1 and they weren't sure but tended towards, "No, because the mounting system is different." I can't see why it wouldn't work, they had the Inspire 1 non-Pro right next to it and I couldn't see any difference except the model number on the motor shroud being 3510H not 3510.

Also, it locks into place when you attach them, I don't think vibration is likely to shake it loose unless it's pretty extreme... That said, I currently use the same 2nd gen quick release props with no issues so far. I have been scared by what I've read on this forum for a while now, but that seems to be the case with any product forums...

Hi GB

No problem, great minds think alike... now I just need to find mine

I agree and DJI has put a lot of thought into the new design. Once the hub is locked, I can't see how vibration would affect it. The only thing I see is the center hub is plastic and the tabs are the holding the prop in place. Looks pretty robust but it would be need to nice to have one to inspect and use.

DJI has not commented on when they will be available  hopefully soon.

Looks like they should bolt onto the motor without any issues. Wondering what the 3510H means? 3510 with new hub

Can't wait to try these out.

I just got confirmation that the new prop locking system that comes with the Inspire Pro will work with the standard Inspire 1. I do not know when they will be available but I would not expect it anytime soon.

I like how it locks in place rather than what we use now. I'll place an order the first day it comes out for us consumers. Go dji ! ! !

I agree but something, and I don't know what it is with me but I always have that pop-goes-the-prop for some reason due to there not being an advance locking system. Which what we see coming out to me is going to give me peace of mind. Can't wait to hear when in stock!

Hi Rich,

I have not heard anything. Personally I think it is going to be a long time like I hinted to in my above post.
This is just my opinion.

Thank you!

The hub is still plastic with open space inside - bad design, I can see plastic failing there and the prop flies off..

Why not add metal central nut that screws on to the motor and then the locking system? What's with the hurry of saving 20 seconds per motor?

Bad design.

I am not sure that I agree this new system is a bad design because they use plastic hubs.

The whole idea is to make the design more portable and less assembly. The new plastics that are available today can be very robust and durable. Once the prop is seated and tight on the hub my thought is this will be a good and strong mount.  Of course, this relying on the correct materials and tolerances used.  Simply using metal does not mean stronger.
As a good friend of mine told me long ago, Aircraft Engineers design parts to be the best possible for their  Flying aspects... Not  how they hold up in a crash.

I do not want to judge this design and give this a fair chance  before anyone gets to use it.

My current QR props work great and I am looking forward to trying these new parts

DJI Announced this today:

"In line with DJI’s spirit of constant innovation, we are pleased to announce a new propulsion system for the Inspire 1 with new motors and propellers.
A new propulsion system provides the same flight times as the original, while improving control and performance. Due to the use of higher quality components, the price of all new Inspire 1 units will increase slightly.
New propellers on the Inspire 1 use a different mounting and locking mechanism from current propellers but remain easy to use. Full instructions will be released soon.

New 3510H motors have 420KV of power, improving flight performance and providing pilots with a greater sense of control compared to current 350KV motors."

Just do the math - 3 kg multiplied by 50 mph all this energy channeled to a plastic part or a metal hub.. Flying over people.. I think its a safety issue the whole craft is hanging on 2 small plastic tabs that will degrade with UV exposure and become brittle ( there is no plastic that is not affected by UV ) vs metal hub. Also I think you can spend 20 seconds to mount your prop, you still can't fly that quick, GPS lock will require a minute or two.
