The remote controller firmware v1.5.70 has been released. Ensure the DJI GO app has been updated to the
latest version (iOS v2.4.2 and Andriod v2.4.1)before updating the remote controller. Refer to the product
page on the DJI official website for the detail instruction on how to update and learn more.

1. Improved the stability of the remote controller update process.
2. Support DJI Focus (learn more at https://store.dji.com/product/focus)

Where is it?
I have 2.4.2 and FW 1.5.0030 for the P3A.
I may have seen several in-app messages about controller version 1.5.xx  the other day, but the app has not asked me to upgrade and install 1.5.70 yet.  RC is still 1.4.30
How is it supposed to work?

I have followed the instructions.  Now I cannot fly.  My drone I1 is always warming up and my fully charged battery is at 0%.  Help.  

Trying to upgrade the ipad to the latest OS.

Yesterday I updated the RC to 1.5.70. P3A FW is 1.5.30.
I got a message from the app (2.4.1, android).
Update was  done by the app. I took only a few mins.

I see that this topic is posted under P3 but is posted originally as an Inspire subtopic?
This can be confusing.

updated app, then rc, then aircraft. everything is ok.
by now app often write that signal is lost.

Once I updated the OS and the App, I was back in business.  Off to fly another day!

My news is more encouraging. Successful P3P short test flight to take HDR photos after RC controller updated to 1.5.70 today. This was also the first flight since the new update of aircraft to 1.5.30 (and IMU calibration as usual). Bird seems more stable than before (12 knot winds); first impressions are good. DJI GO app version 2.4.0 is running on an Android Nexus 9 tablet.

Here I am, replying to myself, but I wanted everyone to know that after really reading the instructions, I opened the Flight Status window in GO for iOS and found the controller update needed message. It may have been there before and I may have been looking in the ABOUT versions area by mistake.
It all went well. I recalibrated everything and will give it a try once it gets above 14 degrees F.

If possible just try to connect with your Phantom via iOS instead of Android and let us know the result.

I'm really messed up now. I do not understand what we are updating on the Inspire1.
I see it as we are not updating the firmware on our Inspiress. We are not updating
The firmware on our controller, I have the latest installed. So what are we updating?
Right now I do not understand. Are you telling me to run my controller, click on the
Big box on top and it will tell me to update something? Can someone explain this to
Me? Everything's fine right now and I have the newest firmware installed on my
Inspire1 and controller GO APP. If I go to download on the site I do not see anything.

Please note that this is general information and not blow by blow detail.                      New note:: DJI Go App needs to be updated to the latest version before you start to update the remote!


This is not a manual firmware update and uses the DJI GO App to complete the installation.

1: You turn on the remote with the i Pad connected via the USB cord, then start up the DJI Go App.
2: After you trust the App and go to the Inspire camera page, you click on the top center No Signal tab. Once this opens you will see the message that your firmware needs to be updated.  
3:Click on download firmware and after it finishes, then click on start to upgrade.

You will see the idea from my photos below.






NOTE:  This firmware update is only for the remote controllers. You do not need to involve the Inspire 1 or batteries.


I hope this helps others that might be confused regarding the update.....

I skipped that all important step and went directly to the About section of the general settings where it just showed the old version without any update warning.

So updated rc firmware the picture is now moving smooth with finger on the ipad. but on the remote controller it judders on the downward movement. left right and up work smoothly and moves fine. My next question is I read somewhere about the batteries and the main body of the UAV needing upgraded.  Can someone please explain the steps.  I cannot follow the video on the DJI site since it is incorrect and in the post by DJI it says there is a PDF showing how to upgrade but I just can't seem to find it.  I have looked.  I like to find things myself and don't like to ask something that should be simple for me to find but like I said, I cannot find the information.  Perhaps I am looking in the wrong place.

Sorry,  For some reason my post above did not all post..  This is the first part.  I am new to this.  I opened the box on Thanksgiving.  I watched the DJI video about upgrading the FW and followed it.  The camera updated correctly.  I tried the RC and it failed.  I tried for 2 days and gave up.  This morning I read richj53 's post about the RC and it worked great.  now the above post is where this leaves off.

Dear DJI TIM, speaking of remote controller, please answer me if you can...what makes the remote controller go to 5 km max range, as changed recently on specs sheets for both Inspire 1 & Phantom 3's remote controllers?! Is it necessary to get a new remote controller with these specs or the older versions can reach this range somehow?!

The firmware is a package.. It contains all necessary firmware for all devices. Put the new firmware .bin file on the sd card and power on the craft, if the battery needs updating it should start within 30sec. You will see the battery LEDs act differently during the update. This needs to be done for each battery and will ignore the Inspire 1.  You can see the update information on a text file located on the SD card. In addition, their is a hidden folder with the log files that detail all of the updates by device. example below:

dji-tim, et al.  My system was bricked when i first did the updates.  Then I removed the GO app from my Samsung and resinstalled it and everythign works except the system will not record video.  I've tried two cards so far and in the process of trying a third one.  I cleared the video cache.  Pictures record just fine, but video will not record.  Any ideas?

I have flown two more sd cards, all class 10, and they all record jpg pictures but no video.  anyone have any ideas?  We went through this a few months ago and it caused me to return an inspire.  The pics are good for me, but i need video too.  any ideas appreciated.

I updated my phantom 3 standard today ( btw i got to this post by clicking on phantom 3) and it was bad from the start, it moved weird, and the bad part was,it shows super strong signal ,yet remote got cut off at 1200 feet

My iPhone cannot get to the camera view and I could not update the controller firmware as per instructions. I tried downloading the firmware to a SD card and plugged it directly into the USB port of the controller but nothing happens! I was able to upgrade the firmware for the P3 aircraft. Now I can control my P3 with the controller, but I can't connect my iPhone to see what's happening!  Anybody knows what to do please? Thanks.

I haven't updated the rc to the new version yet. But I the last time I did, I noticed that the battery life was cut short 30%. Talked to Dji and was advised to discharge all baterries so the rc could recalc/recalibrate the battery. Not sure if we have to do this again?

Ill have updated the aircraft and app now ill dont come to camera mode any more use an galaxy s5 any ideas how to fix it tried to reinstall the app too.....

reinstalling the app made things work for me, mostly.  the video now records on the phone but not on the five sd cards i have tried so far.

App asked me to upgrade to 1.500.30. Did so via app. Had not yet upgraded to  DJI Go App  2.4.1. After upgrade remote started and it always told me signal was lost. After a couple of restarts my remote will not turn on. Push the start button once then the second time for two seconds as always. Four indicator lights come on for a second then does nothing. Firmware update on quad was successful via inserting sd card . txt file on card shows "success"

Right now I am stuck. Battery is fully charged. I opened remote thinking ribbon cable  loose or connector  but all seems well.

Any one else with this problem?

I am pleased to hear you got your Inspire going.... glad to help and thank you. Yes, put on 5 lbs after the turkey day

The weather is very cold here and I was bored ... this seemed like the right thing to do, as the DJI instructions can be confusing to all of us at times. One thing they might consider, is to update the instructions to include the new WiFi update process and the correct steps necessary to complete the firmware upgrades.  It is most likely in the works and slow to come out.

I am not Tim, but can you provide us with the firmware update log showing all the device updates? This is located inside a hidden folder on the SD card after the updates are completed successfully.  look at the example above in this thread for the text file type.

I am thinking that after we review your update log, you might find something that did not update correctly...

I read thru some of the troubles folks were having,  before doing this REMOTE ONLY UPDATE.
THERE IS NO SPECIFIC FILE TO DOWNLOAD.  This update is thru the DJI GO CREATE app, and goes
directly to the Remote.......no online file.

There is certainly some confusion, and the directions must be followed.  SEE Rich's post #12
Read thru it a couple of times. Once I read it, I was very confident I knew what to do next.

BUT>>>>>BUT!!!!!

Step 1:  update your IOS or Android system FIRST......

Step 2: Your GO app should then be updated or reinstalled....and then read DJI GO CREATE
once that's done,  follow Rich's instructions in post# 12

I flew today, and everything works as expected.

Now here is a BONUS

Today at SEFSD in San Diego, Ca. Mission Bay one of our guys with a fairly new I-1 ( not Pro ) showed me the latest and greatest APP for the I-1.........WayPoints and more where  you can draw your points on the map on screen,  A N D put Points Of Interest in the path !!!!!

You guys should have seen this!  Works awesome.....but you can still only fly the waypoints at about 15 mph.....which is better than the DJI at 12mph.

I'm having the same problem after updating all firmware no signal

I tried updating the RC, and now my controller seems to be bricked.
The update seemed to go ok through the App, but then it said the update failed and retry.
Then nothing, I can't attempt it again.
Latest Android.
Fully charged battery.

I can power on the RC, but the light is clear/white - no color, and nothing is responding.

How can I hard reset the RC?
