The OSMO handle rosette mount does not attach flush with the screw rosette mount of the OSMO Vehicle Mount. The teeth of the rosette mounts do not fit flush together even after tightening the mounting screw per the OSMO Vehicle Mount Quick Start Guide. The OSMO and handle just wobble rendering the Vehicle Mount unusable. I cannot tighten the mounting screw without damaging the rosette mount in the OSMO handle.

After paying for and waiting three (3) months for the Vehicle Mount I cannot even use it because of what appears to be defect in the spacing between the rosette mounts when the two items are mated.

You can click on the Advanced on the right top corner and then you can upload and insert the photos.  I've checked your avatar, but it's not very clear, I can't see the problem clearly, could you please try to shoot a demo video? IMG_2557.JPG Please check this photo, this is a normal vehicle mount.

When you tighten the thumbscrew (red arrow) the two rosettes (yellow arrows) do not mesh flush and the OSMO wobbles on the mount.

Went back to the store where I ordered and purchased the Vehicle Mount, Built Drones. The proprietor, Chad, was very helpful and tried connecting another Vehicle Mount directly out of the box to an OSMO with the very same results. It appears to be a DJI manufacturing defect either in this batch of Vehicle Mounts or all DJI OSMO Vehicle Mounts. It appears the thumb screw shaft is too long to draw the respective rosette mounts flush together.

So...I still do not have a resolution for the DJI OSMO Vehicle Mount not attaching correctly to the DJI OSMO and handle.

DJI...now it is your turn. Do you have a fix for this $75.00 DJI OSMO Vehicle Mount?

Well my guess is the screws on the vehicle mount on the inside of the ring are not securely fastened. Just get a small X screwdriver and fasten them properly!

Take off the vehicle mount and look directly on top of the screw, you will find 4 small screws. Fasten those.

Thank you for the suggestion job.genders...already thought of that and checked entire DJI OSMO Vehicle Mount to insure all fasteners were tight including the four (4) small screws you referred to...all were tight.

OSMO Vehicle Mount Defect

Hi, please try to let your dealer contact DJI technical support and ask for a replacement for these two Vehicle Mount. At the same time, please provide the serial numbers of the two vehicle mounts here, you can check the box. Thanks.

A washer would do it, or a couple just to take up the gap at the red arrowed end.

First, thank you for the feedback and I agree a washer might do it, but, and I say this in a non-confrontational manner, why should I have to fix a brand new DJI OSMO Vehicle Mount I just paid $75.00 for?

Anyways, do you have the vehicle mount yet? If so, did you have to repair it out of the box? If not, then maybe this is an isolated defect. I will tell you that when I first took it out of the box I was impressed with the appearance and, at the time, apparent quality of the DJI OSMO Vehicle Mount. The locking mechanism at the base and other features suggested it was well thought out. Seemed real solid and was looking forward to deploying same.

As you can see by DJI's response, they have not technically offered a replacement...just asked my dealer to contact technical support and ask for a replacement...after waiting three (3) months for the first one, I wonder how long it will take to receive a functioning replacement. Oh well...

alaric2876,

Besides the teeth not lining up, is the screw that goes into the handle too long?

Thank you for the response. Either that or the rubber/plastic washer that is between the actual knurled knob and the body of the DJI OSMO Vehicle Mount is not thick enough. There is a small screw holding the shaft and knob together. That is tight. Not knowing what the design engineer's intent for either or both makes it difficult to know. Placing a an extra washer would probably do the trick, but if an issue comes up later which results in damage, would that void the warranty? I thought it was an anomaly until I returned to the dealer and the same thing happened with a Vehicle Mount right out of the box.

The issue now is about responsibility and accountability of DJI to answer the question and correct it. Is this an isolated case pertaining to a few DJI OSMO Vehicle Mounts, a batch or all?

Hi Alaric. yes I agree it is bad that a fault like this could get past QC, and DJI should address it. I was only suggesting a solution to get you going, while waiting for DJI to sort out.

Alaric,

you are absolutely right, you shouldn't be fixing of altering something that should work straight away. Just get this arranged with DJI. They messed up with a production error.

alaric2876,

I am sure DJI will take care of you. You are correct in saying that it should be plug and play and should not need any intense modification. Seems like a simple defect and will probably set you up with a new one.

I do believe some in the US are getting recall notices? Did you get one? I believe they are correcting the problem, and in the end, it will be worth it.

I am starting to see feedback and information from this and other discussion threads that there does indeed seem to be a defect with the DJI OSMO Vehicle Mount. Some are saying it is the reason delivery of the mount was delayed until mid-December. Another person suggested DJI identified the problem with the DJI OSMO Vehicle Mounts delivered in Germany and were recalling them. No confirmation from DJI about a "recall."
