I'm not sure how many people are aware of this (I was not until my drone training class I took yesterday) but whales have a permanent TFR over them (temporary flight restriction) and you can get in very big trouble if caught flying over/filming whales. I started this thread because of the weeks old thread from the guy who had his P4 downed for flying in a NFZ over the ocean, supposedly trying to film some whales breaching. It is 100% illegal, and if you insist on doing it, be careful/aware of what/who is around you!! Just a warning.

I suspect the restrictions were originally created for planes and helicopters to prevent them harassing whales.
Even though whales would take about as much notice of a Phantom at 50 feet as they would a seagull, the old rules for noisy real planes have now captured drones.

A drone 30 metres away sounds like a swarm of bee's, what next a fine for bee's when they fly in a swarm?
