Reading in other forums that DJI has limited above ground height to 500m and cannot be removed, is this the case?


Why limit? Why not include a disclaimer every time someone wants to remove the limitation? What about people who live in countries without height limitation or like me, who fly in valleys +500m deep?
And secondly, why 500m and not 400ft as per FAA guidelines (which again, in a deep valley do not apply?

Well that would put me off because I wanted to try fly at the top of a mountain, 1085m 3300ft!

Is that altitude above sea level or above ground level?
This would limit you going above 500m from your take off point, for me its a dealbreaker

That would be take off altitude, so I could take off from 1100m and then go 500m higher than the 1100m. That would be okay for that scenario.


Is there any limit going down from take off of 1100m to say 200m?

Dont know, maybe Ed or someone from DJi could clarify these points.

Pretty sure that is AGL. I'm not at sea level and it reports 1 m high 1 m from the ground.

Correct. It's a max ceiling of 500 (what seems is AGL).
