Looking at upgrading to the E1200 Pro Tuned Propulsion System on an S900.

DJI claims a 28% increase in flight times in their specs.

Has anyone upgraded and got this increase?

Any other feedback on the E1200 is also appreciated.

Cost would be around $800 so want to make sure it's worth the money.

I have them, and fined their claim rather hard to believe, given that these are larger motors/props.

Regardless, I've had vibration issue with mine and have had to revert to the old arms. It looks like DJI have either removed the dampers on the motors (new design), or forgot to install them. Trouble is nobody seems to know what the parts numbers are to order them.

Thanks lethbrp...   if I get them I'll do tests with both sets and publish results.

The image from the DJI website looks like they have the dampers:

DJI - can you please verify the dampers come with these props.  Thanks

Hello!
As you can find in the User Manual (http://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/e1200/en/E1200_Pro_Propulsion_Upgrade_Kit_for_S900_User_Manual_v1.2_en.pdf), the soft dampers are included in the box: E1200 Pro in the box.png

Thanks DJI-Adela!

lethbrp - I'm guessing there was a manufacturers defect in the props you received.  Assuming they're still under warranty, I'd call DJI (or your reseller) and have them send you a new set.  Given the product is a defect I'd bet they'll pay for the shipping both ways as well.

Hi Timonroecg,

That would be my assumption. However, All three boxes came without dampers. Also, the 3m bolts that attached the motors to the arms are less than 12mm long (as specified in the manual). This would indicate that they may have changed the design. I certainly think this is a contributing factor to the vibration.

Good luck, as I can't get any sense out of DJI on this matter.

Mine arrived today, ordered them from DJI in California, US, and they don't have the dampers...

The dampers are also referenced in the user manual.

** DJI - can someone please look into this and confirm this is a design change.  Does seem odd that all the pics and documentation on the website show the props with the dampers.

Did some timing tests comparing the original props to the new E1200 props...

Build:
S900, A2, iOSD Mark II, FPV Camera, Futaba Receiver, Flysight VTX, Tattu 12000 mAh Battery (** No Gimbal / Camera **)

Flight Conditions:
Temp: ~60 F
Light Breeze
Elevation: ~300 ft above sea level

Test
Hover ~20 ft above ground

Setup A - Original Props (4114 Pro motors)
* Weight: 12 lb, 1.7 oz
* First Warning (21.5v): 18 min, 52 sec
* Landed (21.1v): 22 min, 40 sec

Setup B - E1200 Pro Props (4216 motors)
* Weight: 12 lbs, 14.4 oz
* First Warning (21.5v): 23 min, 20 sec
* Landed (21.1v): 26 min, 23 sec

** With the E1200 Props, the S900 flew an additional 3 min, 43 sec - a 16% increase in flight time.

It's worth mentioning the E1200 Props are a lot quieter.  I'd describe the original props sounding like an angry swarm of bees.  The E1200 Props sound more like a loud fan.

Another test comparing the original props to the new E1200 props...

Build:
S900, Z15-GH4 Gimbal & GH4 Camera, A2, iOSD Mark II, FPV Camera, Futaba Receiver, 2 - Flysight VTXs, Tattu 12000 mAh Battery

Test
Hover ~20 ft above ground

Setup A - Original Props (4114 Pro motors)
* Conditions: Temp: ~55 F, Light Breeze, Elevation: ~300 ft above sea level
* Weight: 16 lb, 8.2 oz
* First Warning (21.5v): 8 min, 35 sec
* Landed (21.1v): 12 min, 55 sec

Setup B - E1200 Pro Props (4216 motors)
* Conditions: Temp: ~82 F, Breezy, Elevation: ~300 ft above sea level
* Weight: 17 lbs, 5.8 oz
* First Warning (21.5v): 12 min, 58 sec
* Landed (21.1v): 16 min, 30 sec

** With the E1200 Props, the S900 flew an additional 3 min, 35 sec - a 28% increase in flight time.

Note that there was a significant outside temperature difference between the two tests: 55 F -vs- 82 F.  Not sure how much but probably had some impact on the flight times.

Update on dampers (motor vibration absorbers)...

I called Tech Support on May 13th, 2016 and they didn't have the answer, said they would contact HQ and find out.  Never heard back from the Tech Support rep so I called again and this time they created a ticket for me: #296846 on May 17th.

This issue has been open for 25 days.  I've also followed up via the ticket 3 times and have not heard back from either the original Tech Support rep or the rep that created the ticket.

DJI - can one of you ping Tech Support and see if they can try to get an answer on this.  Thanks.

Test using the Tattu 22,000 mAh battery...

Build:
S900, E1200 Pro Props, Z15-GH4 Gimbal & GH4 Camera, A2, iOSD Mark II, FPV Camera, Futaba Receiver, 2 - Flysight VTXs, Tattu 22000 mAh Battery

* Test: Hover ~20 ft above ground
* Conditions: Temp: ~84 F, Light Breeze, Elevation: ~300 ft above sea level
* Weight: 19 lbs, 9.1 oz
* First Warning (21.5v): 22 min, 00 sec
* Landed (21.1v): 25 min, 23 sec

Note that this was only my second charge on the 22000 mAh battery and assuming the times will go up some after the battery has been broken in.

I received 6 vibration absorbers from DJI today...

E1200 Vibration Absorbers.jpg

The S900 is a hex, times four screws per prop = 24.  Not sure why they only sent me 6?

I also called DJI Tech Support a couple times while waiting and got a couple different answers on this.  One rep said I do need these but another rep said that the E1200 Pro props have the dampeners built into them.

I received 6 vibration absorbers from DJI today...

There may have been a misunderstanding that only one arm was missing vibration dampeners. To clarify, you're missing vibration dampeners for the remaining 5 arms? I have notified the proper department in order to get this addressed.

Hi There

I just recieved two sets of e1200pro and they also have no dampers only hard washers.....!

Please advise if this is a redesign as when I bought them I was on the understanding that they had dampers.

Kind regards

please use no dampers on the 1200pro, we know that pilots who're using the damping version had crashes after 15-20 flights.
Since DJI made the redesign without dampers the was no problem anymore

Hi,
I am having problems with weared out soft dampers, what kind of replacement do I need?

Are the replacement parts for the dampers the following motor mount washers, or do I need replacement soft dampers as originally mounted?

Kind regards,

E1200pro, is true that it end of life? Some folks are saying that is used on Wind 1 and 2, than how can it be end of life? I want to build an old frame what crashed due to a faulty A2 controller. Seems nobody have stock in hand. Can somebody elaborate if they know better. Thank you.
