Id agree with your analysis but would add that the G3 radio is ONLY really viable when recording a presenter. If you were shooting gvs etc etc then it is NOT the right tool under any star rating. Then you need a more general mic such as the Rode (or better). Also a personal lav is very suceptable to wind noise, so invest in some rycote fluffies and a rycote wind jammer etc to help with windier locations.

Totally agree with all the facts. On this day, it worked well but there are other occasions where it just doesn't cut it. To be fair, the Rode Video Mic Pro is a good allrounder. Goes to show there's no one mic. fits all purposes !

Might have added another category for price.  That G3 mic is mega bucks ($500 or more), but it did give good sound quality.

Agree. Price is a very important consideration and sometimes the only real consideration when the budget is strained. Good point!
