Hi Folks,

I am patiently waiting for my Inspire 1 to arrive and trying to fill my time with research.

I decided to order an SD card today and *almost* pulled the trigger on a 256Gb card (Lexar Professional 256GB 600x SDXC UHS-I Memory Card)

BUT, I did a final check on the specs and DJI says: Max capacity: 64 GB. Class 10 or UHS-1 rating required.

So...I am glad I did not buy it, but does anynone know if 64Gb is the actual limit? Anyone use something larger ? Any suggestions on "proven" cards on your aircraft?

Looking forward to many more posts in the future!!

MK

I am not sure other than a 256 GB will not work. B&H offers a high speed 64 GB card and I am not even sure about that although I did buy one. On my Phantom the high speed 64 GB card would not work. The 16GB cards work fine, not of the high speed. A regular Micro SD comes with the Inspire which works fine. Same situation with my Phantom's. Less is more I guess? Don't forget that you need the "Micro SD" Card. You can buy them with the adapter to use it as a regular "SD" Card which you will need for your USB Card Reader. A bit confusing, but not really once you have done it and have the proper essentials.

I don't believe anyone makes 256GB microSD cards yet. The 128GB cards just recently became available. You were probably looking at SD cards. You may want to double check that you actually ordered a microSD card.

Ok thanks everyone. In summary:

64Gb is the max
it must be a MicroSD card
it must support Class 10 or UHS-1 to be fast enough to record 4k

A quick search (for those that might be looking) brings back these 2 cards:

29.99 USD - http://www.amazon.com/PNY-Turbo- ... mp;keywords=microsd

AND

54.99 - http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-64 ... EXVQMYEE4JAV70G9GW2

True, I think it is more of a write speed issue. In any event the Micro SD Cards will work fine. Personally I use the inexpensive 16 GB Sandisk Cards and they work great.

The only thing I'd add to your conclusions is that the DJI spec says the camera writes at up to 60 MB per second. So get a card that can write that fast. I use the SanDisk Extreme Pro microSD cards. About $54 for a 32GB or $100 for the 64GB version on Amazon.

Oh yee of little faith... I purchased 2 - 256gb class 10 micro sds in preparation for my Inspire 1.... But not to be out done I found 512gb class 10 micro SDs and bought 3 of those.... I am awaiting the time at a later date when DJI will update firmware to be able to use the larger cards.

Both sets of cards are from SanDisk.

you can get a 128GB microSD card. I use it in my Inspire:

The added reader helps get the content off the card super fast too.

sandisk doesnt make anything higher than 128GB, what you got was probably fake.

Are you sure they are microSD cards? I don't believe you can get microSD cards larger than 128GB yet. Here's the SanDisk site with their full range of microSD cards: http://www.sandisk.com/products/memory-cards/microsd/

Can you share a link to the cards you bought?

That is nice but the max recognized by the Inspire is 64gb.  The draft manuals state 1tb but that has been revised.

I'll bet they are counterfeit. Try to find anyone manufacturing 256GB or 512GB microSD cards anywhere in the world. 128GB is the largest capacity available. The fact that the SanDisk site doesn't include them should be a big concern. And of course as Ed says, only 64GB cards will be recognized by the Inspire.
