Now as I'm looking at these threads about the newest firmware I'm seeing a pattern I think. People in the US with FCC mode are not complaining as much as those using CE mode about range issues after the install of firmware ver 1.6.8 Maybe this poll will help shed some light on this trend. It may pinpoint the issue more with this firmware.

I use the HDMI module and it works great. This thread is talking about firmware for the Phantom 3 Standard and the HDMI module is not for this aircraft.

My issue came up before 1.6.8. It literally was flying fine one day, and then the next day I could not get past 200m. There were no crashes or firmware updates, same location that I flew in the day before, but all of a sudden the next day I couldn't get past 200-300m. 1.6.8 didn't worsen my transmission signal, but it didn't help it either.

I know people sometimes talk about changing their device to see if it has a affect on range. But personally I don't see how which device you use would have any affect on range. With the most important pieces being the craft itself, the controller, app ver. and firmware, as the device is only displaying the data.

If you are doing everything the exact same and all of sudden one day you could only get 200m and you are in an open interference free area then I'd suggest contacting support and sending your aircraft in for repair.

Possibly this video on antenna orientation may help, if not then with your situation you should send it in for repair.

I have just received my phantom 3 standard back from Dji support after being repaired
I'm in Australia so CE mode using both iPhone 5s and iPad Air 2
I received it Friday afternoon and got it all going new firmware update available
I updated through the Dji go app with no problems success
I've now been through three batteries flown in same places where I had video signal faults before repairs
I have no problems with video signal, range over 300m 400m without any lag or loss of signal
So I can say that I have no issues with the latest firmware for p3s
Thanks again to Dji support and their service technicians for their excellent customer support
And the Dji moderators in this forum for their patience and understanding and professional approach
One very happy, glad to be in the air again, proud owner of Dji's Phantom 3 standard flying machine

FCC mode is turned on when in the US and Canada. Everywhere in Europe it goes in CE mode. Not sure about the continent of South American.

i just sent mine for repair it will take 2 weeks to recieve an answer... Why cant someone who sent it already and got it fixed let us KNOW what DJI replaced or fixed?... if it was a hardware problem aparently a lot of phantom 3 standard have the same malfunction too.. why is so much mistery in this? JUS SAY it

I can confirm that reverting back to 1.5.7 firmware as instructed in thread: http://forum.dji.com/thread-52777-1-1.html fixed my video signal lost around 20-30m issue on my P3S. I was able to fly my drone like it should be for the first time. I suggest you all P3S owners to revert to 1.5.7 immediately and ignore the upgrade notices on the app for good.

In the step 5º, you need to insert the SD with the drone being on?

Drone off   Insert card   Turn drone on whilst holding the link button on the aircraft at the same time

Wait a second, you can use two devices for the Phantom 3 Standard? I tried in FCC mode (U.S) and it wouldn't work out two devices.

Hi folks new user here.
Been practicings with my phantom 3 in beginners mode and I now feel ready to take it to the next level.I have disabled the beginners mode and distance limit in the app back my craft still wont go past the 100 ft 30 meter zone any advice folks

Definately something is going on and the poll clearly explain what and why.

DJI just changed/lowered output power, and in the CE mode power is lower than in FCC so in most CE users feels the bad change.

You might be right in that. Also read a post in a different thread that they thought maybe the CE mode was not to specs in the first place and this last firmware update was a tweak to correct that, and this was the result. But being DJI reps keep telling everyone that's having a real range issue to send it in for repair makes me think there could still be a hardware issue that their not making public.

Hello.I'm in the state of California in the United States I just got a chance to really test my Phantom 3 standard with update.
So i first had the fence on at 200ft. I had perfect range vid and control. I brought her back in turned off the fences put everything at Max distance, I went up 380 feet 20 feet below the law in about five hundred feet out had perfect range the whole time even the saved video on the DJI app was

I have better luck with my galaxy s7 i started using my s5 but the wifi drops at times even not the Phantom but my s7 was salid

You may have to manually  type in the range after you turn off the beginner mode and reset the return  to home hight if you don't and it goes return to home you could smack into a building or into a tree you want it higher than your highest obstacle between you and the Phantom

500 feet is not that long to really test the range. You need to be going out 500 yards for a good test.

A participant  on another forum has posted a response (purportedly from DJI) which states that the range for CE systems has been reduced to about  300-350m.
