Li-Ion batteries pretty much have a stable output voltage up until the point they're considered empty. They have an operating voltage of around 4.2V (fully charged) and approx. 3.2V (discharged). So it follows that RF output power is not significantly affected by the battery's state of charge unless it gets below critical voltage. By then, the controller would've probably shutdown.
You don't really have to keep it fully-charged all the time, but it helps that you don't run out of power in the middle of a flight. As with anything, losing control of an aircraft is never a good thing, even with fail-safe. You'd typically want to invoke fail-safe RTH as a last resort only and not rely on it on day-to-day flights. |
