just a quick note to Australian residents that if purchasing from the DJI website, you will pay a substantial premium over what residents of the US or other countries will pay. As an example, P4 battery will set you back A$289 against a US resident paying US$169 (around A$220 based on current exchange rates) Car charger kit would cost US $62 Again, around A$85 on worst exchange rate but Australian residents pay A$129. Also, US residents obtain free postage after spending $99 but for Australian residents, the threshhold is A$429
DJI claim the difference is because of VAT (laughable).
Would strongly recommend Australian resident perhaps consider their options before purchasing direct from DJI

On Apple's website,

iPhone 6s in US is sold for $649(around A$844), and for A$1079 in Australia,   at a 27% premium.  (Exactly the same percentage with DJI Drone)

Go figure

As I purchased through Apple I was entitled to purchase 2 batteries for the P4 from DJI for AU$289 AND FREE delivery, so I jumped at that.

As we Aussies know, we always pay more because we are the Lucky Country

Well DJI-HC while your comparison is correct, it doesn't mean DJI are not on the bandwagon of overcharging there customers, duties and taxes are the same into Ireland as they are into UK yet DJI charge as much as 18% more into Ireland and the rest of Europe, I wonder will you have as quick an explanation for this as you have had with US- Australia comparison,

IE : Osmo in UK £489 = €566 but price in Europe is €659 difference of €103 Euro, same duties same taxes, this is a difference of 20% , so would appreciate your explanation for this discrepancy and bear in mind this is about the same % difference across the board with all DJI products.

Don't forget we're still paying EU 'tariffs' as an extra tax on goods from China. Which adds a large chunk onto the price. Hopefully this will improve once we're fully out. That said we're used to paying over the top here in the UK, not just on DJI products but on everything! Sounds like similar in Aus.

Though I love my drone, as does everyone who see's it, I find it hard to justify the price paid and I mention this to potential DJI customers. Lower the prices and DJI will find their profit margins actually increase.
Edit: Check your EU tariff here: http://madb.europa.eu/madb/euTariffs.htm# Note that some items have up to 604% EU tax applied! - Good luck using that page, they like to hide stuffs ;)

If it's Ireland and the rest of the EU, it sounds like the euro is the common issue. That said I'd not put it past certain companies to increase prices 'just because' they know we pay elevated prices in Europe (and from my point of view especially in the UK).

If Trump wins in the USA, then we may see the $ drop like a comet,increasing the cost of the P4, and then if tariffs are also imposed (but I doubt it sinc eall his products are made in China, unless he passes a law to exclude his only), then we may be looking at a $4000 Phantom nest year! {:4_157:}

Isn't there now a third candidate standing as independent republican? I'm honestly not sure anymore what's going on in the US, I guess shock at what obama has done to them has made them desperate. Hillary is definitely quite mad, I thought the nuttiness of trump was more a shock act to get media attention, many of his ideas would indeed help 'make America great again', - (if implemented in the *right* way - which isn't how he suggests vocally) but after his recent speech which many take as an endorsement of violence he's made himself indeed look mad too.

As for the USD rating, seems if any of those two get in your P4's will be higher priced!

Without getting too deep into politics,

Unfortunately, our great country is now controlled by the few special interest groups.  It is legal in our country to buy the political establishment.

Our system was changed to allow the BIG and Powerful to make "campaign donations", which resulted in all laws passing to make the 1% super rich and the powerful corporations can break the law by not paying taxes. So who is left to pay the high taxes in the US?  the "average Joe and his middle class family".

So one can understand why the people are fed up with this current system.  As a result, the extremist political options tend to resonate more with the average voter now.

I was shocked of the British vote to get out of the EU!  I think the same fed up middle class voter is getting sick and tired of the current system there too.
For the ones who have seen the movie the Producers,
The Trump campaign is like that movie.  The worst it gets, the more popular it becomes.  It makes no different how many lies they produce, how stupid the rhetoric is, because his backers (audience) are not too bright too. He knows he is not going to get the intellectual voters, so he is resonating with the "numb-head" voters.

Again, it's not just DJI doing this. I'm not sure about the reason behind it, could be because of tax planning, operation cost, warranty cost, etc, just for exapmle.

True, sorry I thought Ireland was still using pounds.

Sorry off topic here but have to.  Yep we're in trouble here in the USA.  Is it too late to bring back Ross Perot?

Henry Ross Perot, known as Ross Perot, is an American businessman best known for being an independent presidential candidate in 1992 and the Reform party presidential candidate in 1996
I remember standing on the street corner holding a sign I plotted on the old pen plotter here at work.

America became a laughing stock when they laughed at and smeared Ron Paul, the only politician you had speaking sense and truth.

Regarding the actual topic of prices, here in Malaysia we have a 100% tax on imported cars, even higher for luxury cars. My Ford truck and my wife's Toyota car were literally the cost of having to buy 2 trucks and 2 cars. I believe Thailand suffers the same. I think that rather puts it in perspective when you have to pay an extra $50 or so for a luxury such as a flying camera ;)

I was happy to see how crazy expensive an iPhone is, anywhere, as it makes me feel better about blowing $500 on said camera lol

Must point out though, when the comparison is made to Apple products, didn't I hear somewhere that Apple were investing in DJI? Or is that just a rumor? Lemme google it..

http://appleinsider.com/articles ... -customer-crossover

Yep, partners.

And no, I DO NOT use Apple products, not any more. My iPad Air was entirely useless for anything (though ironically it WOULD be useful for this drone, but I politely gave it back to the person who gave it as a gift, as I had no use for a tablet of such limited ability). My MacBook Pro has a seized hard drive and I've never used an iPhone. So no, don't go lumping me in with Apple users

(If it helps any, I absolutely loathe my Samsung S6 Android phone...)
UPDATE: As I bought this thing for a road trip around Iceland I'm disappointed to see it needs it's own non-standard charger. OK, so how much is a car charger, I can grab one in Dubai...? $85!!??

Yes, it is non-standard because the battery is 17.5 volts, while most other electronic crap is lower. And you can buy a cheap car charger on eBay for about $20, simply because it is not a charger (neither is the DJI one) and it will work just fine.

The vast majority of people I've spoken to here in the UK have celebrated Brexit as a move towards a better economy, freedoms and the return of democracy. I don't know how the media portrayed it outside of the UK but under the dictatorship of the EU we were sinking almost as fast as the other EU countries. The only ill effect we've had are a drop in the value of GBP - which is likely only down to the scaremongering (we see the same every time a headline of 'recession' appears, whether it be real or not).

As a service/retailer, We've seen an upsurge in business since the Brexit vote, people have hope back for our country instead of the downward spiral we were stuck in.

And as this is a discussion on prices, now that the pound has dropped in value, for whatever reason, prices on all our imported goods and materials will increase. So maybe not good news for potential DJI customers.

That could encourage local companies to produce their own accessories though...

Actually it probably won't, as the drop in the pound is just temporary. Business people are not interested in such things and just want to trade, so expect the value to resume after awhile.
Regarding the charger, I phoned the shop where I'm collecting my P3S tomorrow and they say they have one, for 85 ringgit, which is about $20 Presumable it won't have DJI written on it.

I sincerely hope DJI doesn't turn out to be too much like Apple, with proprietary this and that.
