Hi Ken
I got another broadcast email today apologizing for the delay and that they are working around the clock to get these orders  moving. As you know I already have things I can fly and will just wait and see when it happens.

What's the reason for calibrating in the first place, was there an issue with your sticks?
Try to move the sticks slower and see if that does it.

There are some legitimate things users are experiencing, but yes a lot of it can be eliminated by knowing the manual.
And for those who experience a problem that's proven to be something the aircraft is not dong correctly then contact support and have it evaluated. That's what the warranty is for.

There's thousands and thousands of flying Mavics out there, and only a small handful are experiencing some kind of difficulty.
There is absolutely no reason for any kind of recall.
GoPro shipped only 2,500 and they had a great enough percentage of failures and that's why they did a recall. You have to remember, DJI has been manufacturing multirotors for over ten years, this is GoPro's very first crack at it.

Hey everyone,

Can someone help me out with learning to control the gimbal while in flight? Per the user manual, "Use the gimbal dial on the RC to control camera tilt, or go to Camera View in the DJI Go App, tap and hold the screen until a blue circle appears, then drag the circle to control the camera's tilt."

I understand how to use it with the blue circle, but the gimbal dial on screen doesn't respond to my finger touch when I slide up and down. How do you actually use the dial to control the gimbal? Thank you in advance!

I like how mine walked me through compass and IMU calibration last evening, before it would fly.

I hope I can fix the wobbly jello-like effect in the videos after today... a tutorial video says to make sure the gimbal is secured wo three little hook things... I can't tell if mine is, but I think so.
I'll come back with photos of what mine looks like and a sample of video taken with it, if it helps.
I want to take good care of this thing.

I got a Mavic from the North Michigan Ave. Apple store, picked it up just yesterday... I don't know if they have more, but it may be worth a shot. The specialist I spoke to asked me what the Mavic was, because apparently they had ten of them and almost all had already been picked up.

Maybe there's one left, somewhere in there... I hope so.

Sorry you are having difficulties, please post a video clip.

I tried to get outside with my Mavic and fly it to record a sample video yesterday, but it got dark before I was able. Instead, I tried an indoor flight, and recorded a test video to go with pictures of my gimbal I took right afterward. The video recorded indoors was in 2.7k, 30 fps and had no jello effect.

The video from before, which had jello effect, was in 4k at 24 fps, outside above tree level.

For maximum data, I am going to try and fly it outside again after I think I may have fixed the gimbal by trying to hook the gimbal mounting plate in all 3 places. When I'm done recording, I'll take a picture of the gimbal and upload that too.

Hopefully either the wobbly jello effect will be gone from my videos tonight, or I'll be able to collect enough video and photos from the same time to determine the cause and a possible fix.

Thank you for your patience- I'll check in again when I've got that test flight done outside.

Finally got outside, about 20 minutes before sunset. Flew it around a bit filming video and snapping some photos.

The jello effect seemed to happen most often when facing into the direction the breeze was coming from.
DJI_0003 starts facing into the wind, then turns away from it.

The video might be a little hard to watch, since I'm still teaching myself to operate the camera in anything approaching a smooth, steady manner. Apologies for the sudden Portrait mode during video- I meant to toggle the gimbal facing forward or down, and pressed the wrong thing.

The photos I linked here were taken after the flight landed.

Also linking to flight logs, in case they have any information that could help.
Flight logs (ZIP file)
DJI_0003
Gimbal from behind
Gimbal from front

Thank you for your help. If needed, I can also upload and link to a video that starts facing away from the wind and turns into it.

It seems like an issue worth investigating, since my flying video camera records distorted images when it looks into wind... which is something it's pretty much guaranteed to have to deal with above tree height.

I only looked at the first video and you definitely have a problem
Have you done a gimbal calibration and are you on the latest firmware.
I would call 818-235-0789 and include the video link and send it in and it will be evaluated.
You can call now as they are still open for another 45 minutes.
You can also return to Apple if you wish.

Good news: my Mavic is at the latest firmware, I autocalibrated the gimbal in the app, and... it was raining outside that day. Luckily, the Mavic's vaunted portability meant it got taken to Thanksgiving dinner with the family today, and used as the outdoor overhead camera it is.

Active-tracking around everyone, I didn't notice any jello in the video when viewed on my phone.

Just to be sure, I purposely took it to 300 feet up afterward and flew into the wind at 15 miles an hour. Still no jello.

Reserving final judgment on this until I get home and review the SD card's footage on the TV's large screen, but it looks like the jello issue may have been fixed.

Thank you, DJI-Ken.
UPDATE, 6 HOURS LATER:

Just looked at the videos. It appears the jello effect still remains, just not quite as pronounced.
I will be calling that number you provided tomorrow. There was enough vibration to make it look a little like the camera was seeing double... I mistook that for simple blur on a phone's small screen earlier.
