Hi all,

Problem #1
Experiencing some issues with a DJI Inspire 1 Raw; the gimbal was recently repaired by DJI and seems to work correctly, except that it faces exactly 90 degrees to the right, despite the app/compass showing that it is facing the same way as the drone. Basically the yaw is 90 degrees off, after numerous IMU, compass and gimbal calibrations. It does seem to be setting itself up correctly each time, but then pressing 'reset yaw' or powering off and on the drone/controllers in any sequence resets the yaw to its default sideways position. Our initial thought is to roll back the firmware and reinstall to see if that resolves the issue. However, this introduces...

Problem #2
The drone won't take any firmware via a micro SD card. It simply doesn't register it, makes no sound, remains static, and the light blinks yellow. We've tried different micro SD cards, formatted on different computers, different .bin files, even using different unarchiving programs. We also tried hooking the drone up directly to a mac and to a Fat 32 hard drive via USB. Makes no difference. The bird is currently on 1.9.30 and we're ultimately trying to roll back to 1.8.1.00 in order to troubleshoot Problem 1.

For the yaw issue, are you using the stock 15mm lens or a 3rd party one? Just to clarify, you have ensured that you are installing the Inspire 1 Raw firmware and not the Pro, correct?

Thanks for the quick response. We are using the stock lens and have been trying both the last two versions of the Raw firmware.

After many attempts, we did get the drone to at least acknowledge the firmware although it seems that it wouldn't actually reinstall since it wasn't a newer version (?). Text below for both 01.08.01.40 and 01.90.01.30 (current firmware).
Worst case scenario, is there a way to manually calibrate the gimbal to default to the correct position and reflect its true orientation in the compass diagram on the app?

Make sure that you are wiping the SD card clean of any other versions of FW.  dont use a Mac for Formatting the SD card either, use a PC if you can.  Then try FW 1.8 again making sure that it is the RAW FW for the aircraft.  Try and use a PC for the SD format and loading the SD card.  And soon as I saw the MAC I knew this could cause this problem.  
Try and get a fresh file of the 1.8 Raw  file as well, delete all others on you system.
****I dont think the rollback is going to help you , I have seen this several  times before .

There is a thread on here that shows how to adjust a nut on the very top of the Gimble but only do this if you feel confident in your ability.  I will try to find a link . You may just want to send it back to DJU though, if they just fixed it, they messed something up .

Thanks Donnie. I tried formatting both on the bird and through Disk Utility. We don't have a PC but I will try to borrow one for this...however, since the drone is generating a .txt file I don't think the Micro SD is the problem on the rollback.

As for the gimbal, that sounds quite possible. Seeing as we just got the gimbal back from DJI for an unrelated issue and it wasn't exhibiting this problem before, if it is a hardware issue I would certainly hope DJI would take care of it as I wouldn't want to try making those adjustments/repairs myself.

They are pretty good with the technical side of the repairs. May be slow and you may have issues communicating but they get the job done.

If the issue persists, then getting in contact with the North American Support team would be the best course of action.

I see this happen when the camera is hooked up to an Inspire pro FW to the Aircraft, then when the Raw FW is installed it seems to revert to this sideways orientation .  

Was this the case for you ?

Hi, i have same problem, with trying to reinstall or downgrade on 1.8. still no luck, how did you solve this problem ?

Hello from Siberia! We have the same problem. Not upgrading the an Inspire RAW FW to the Aircraft. Format and write to SD card from PC. INSPIRE RAW +  X5R. Is anybody solved them?

In download page I see "Inspire 1 Firmware v01.10.01.40 (X3)" - is it (X3) mean X3 camera only? Not for X5R? But why DJI App say: upgrade is required for camera and aircraft? Current FW in Camera 1.9.1.10, Aircraft 1.9.1.30+, App 3.1.3, RC 1.7.60

GO  to the downloads page again and look to the box that says "Product Select" ( upper left above the downloads, pic attached to make it more clear)  here is where you choose the camera system , then you will get the proper FW for you system .  It defaults to the X3 but if you have the X5R you MUST choose that camera.  

Your Aircraft maybe updated but the X5R certainly is not .  Just load the Proper firmware and try again. It will ( Or should ) work.

When you open the downloads page like in my example ( then select the X5R )  The Nextpage will open and the Inspire 1 pro X5R file  will be the one on the top right of the page, that is the one you will want.
