I love the trees turning colors.

A couple of your motion shots flowed very nicely.

Nice job.  Thanks.

Very nice video, I am very new to drone shooting and from GTA only and this inspired me a lot, havea  question, are we officially allowed to fly drone shoot in Scarborough as it is very near to billy bishop airport? Seems most of GTA is blocked from flying drones hence dont see them more often but yeah, the sea shore line is worth shooting.

Hi there,

Thank you for your kind words.

You are in the right track. The laws in Canada are currently tight.

To take these shots, I have an SFOC from Transport Canada + Authorization from the park do it.

Cheers,

Marcelo

Thanks Paniza, its very useful info and relaxed me a bit. I believe you got SFOC as you might want to use it as for professional purpose otherwise for leisure it is OK unless airport is nearby.

By any chance did you went through any of these courses which are prerequisites for SFOC as listed by them?
-airspace classification and structure
-weather and notice to airmen (NOTAM) reporting services
-aeronautical charts and the Canada Flight Supplement
-relevant sections of the Canadian Aviation Regulations

Yes I did take a course here: pilottraining.ca
There are more schools out there.

If you are in the GTA, you might want to go to this:
http://www.candrones.ca/international-uav-show-toronto/

Also, read well those rules from Transport Canada. You will need recreational insurance (try MAAC) and the rules are very restrict against flying over houses, people, etc.

To answer your question from a legal side,  flying within 9km radius of any aerodrome in Canada requires a SFOC from Transport Canada as well as the operator having an aeronautical radio (which requires a license as well ROC-A), you are also required to contact NavCanada to ensure your operations will not conflict with local air traffic as well as coordination with ATC if Transport Canada or Navcanada decides its needed.   You might also have to file for a Notam.

Keep in mind since you seem to be new that Transport Canada sees any sharing of video done by drone within the Canadian airspace as a commercial operation.   I know its dumb, but its the way they see it.  Now chances of people getting caught are slim but there is always a possibility.   Specially with other operators reporting operations left and right.    If you have any questions, feel free to ask us here.  Looks like Paniza has a pretty good amount of knowledge and so do I.   I currently have Standing Sfoc in all provinces of Canada so feel free to ask questions.

We are all here to help each other.

Nice video, thanks for sharing it here.
Certainly love the fall colors as well, except after last night, everything has turned white with snow, here in Edmonton Alta. ;-)
I guess we will be having a lovely white Christmas here, after all. Haha

Hi RedHotPoker,

Great hearing from you.

Thank for your kind words.

Over here things are warm, single digit over the freezing mark. I can't complain!

I also like the format of the course.

It is simple and touch on the same subject from different point of views.

Hi RedHotPoker,

Great hearing from you.

Send me some warmth and sun for the fun.
I can still share smiles, even though it's white for miles.

I do love the fall colours, if you can't tell.
Ah, but all we can see, is where the snow fell. Haha

In about three months, the spring will return.
Until then the hearth will burn. ;-)

Enjoy it well you can.
Post more, often.
