I guess the bottom line is, like most Chinese manufacturers, DJI is risk adverse. Anticipating initial orders would require spending money before something is actually sold. Taking the approach of "better to have more demand than product, than too much product and not enough demand" to its logical extreme seems to be what DJI has done, and is likely to be the real reason for the delay. In other words, better to promise what you can't deliver and capture sales before our competitor does, AND to use the funds collected before production commences to finance production. Why else have a 3-4 week refund policy? This is very smart, from a purely business perspective. It minimizes risk while maximizing profit and cash flow. Unfortunately, it's we, the buyers, who pay for it. That's why we don't get any reason for the delay, and just the announcement of a delay. It's business as usual in China, and nothing will change that other than a MASSIVE cancellation of orders, which is unlikely to ever happen. There's your truth.

The saddest thing in all this story is that when we'll get our Mavic in 2017, we'll be so happy that we will forget about this story and we'll be the first to jump on the next pre-order available. In a certain way, we are supporting that kind of attitude because at the end, their products are fantastic. It feels like DJI are holding our balls real tight like our wives.

On friday afternoon, if i don't have reasonable confidence that I will receive my Mavic before November, then I am cancelling.
If other people happen to do the same thing, then that seems like a reasonable thing to do.

In this day and age of logistics, I have a really hard time believing everyone at DJI is in the dark on the current time line. If I don't see a concrete update or someone's (doesn't have to be mine) drone ship by the time the competitor's product hits the showroom floor, I'm out. I can live with the poorer specs. You can't fly a spec sheet.

Adam the problem is there was nothing from DJI until today when you posted your statement , other than DJI Ken helping with some technical questions there has beeen no other input from anyone within DJI. In fact yes today all the orders placed with the DJI store had the shipping information removed, no statement from DJI

Then today you make your statement, you are making your customers confused and frustrated, if you are the director of communication you need to speak to your boss and maybe you could make a further announcement.....

Apple just paid off DJI for exclusivity so that they'd get the Mavic first and everyone else has to wait as a result ;)

I'm still showing "preparing for shipment - Oct. 18-26" on Amazon, though.  Not sure what they're doing.

Ordered on the 27th October payment was taken 27th October, first official update regarding delay is 3 days after the 15th when it was supposed to ship.

Am definitely cancelling the order on Friday if it won't ship this month.  No way on earth should DJI be taking money that early in a preorder, my money can sit in the bank till they arrive at the Apple Store.

Still looking forward to it but DJI have serious customer relations problems, next time inform of the delay before the said ship date.

I hear ya. No clear shipping answer in sight either. It's becoming obvious this was a marketing scheme to take out the Gopro Karma. I'll almost bet this wasn't scheduled to come out till the end of the year,then Gopro dropped the bomb and left DJI scrambling to do something quick!!! Just my 2 cents

I love that they mention you will lose your space in line if you cancel response. The way things are going whether you pre-ordered or not you will be getting the Mavic around the same time as everyone else.

I would suggest pre-order through B&H before Apple. B&H doesn't charge you until it ships and no tax if you don't live in NY.

Do you have a manager? If he or she has no information have them go to their manager and so on. Someone knows when the first shipments are anticipated.  The sooner the truth is known the better we all will feel even if there is a 2 week delay.  We look everyday for information. That will save us all the trouble and frustration.
