With all the negativity, here's something to ponder positively about (or negatively depending on your perception). Michael posted a video recently that shows a max speed of 60mph for the Mavic Pro, it may well be the wind pushing the Mavic but he does fly in multiple directions with the same ~60mph speed. What do you guys think?

Yes, that's quick..  Very little wind by looking at the water, so it looks like a legit top speed to me.

Towards the beginning of the video when he goes through the menu, anyone notice how it said "Triple Pod Enabled"

Also saw another video from Air Vision with the menu walk-through & it showed 45MPH on that P & S descriptive text.  And TONS of just lame spelling errors and incorrect usage of English words like "Large Interference" instead of the OBVIOUS "Strong Interference."  It is as if NO ONE is super comfortable with English within DJI's media services department (or whomever "writes" the TECHNICAL manuals).

If something AS SIMPLE as spelling a word like 'disabled' correctly (amongst the 100s of errors) in an AIRCRAFT TECHNICAL MANUAL goes unnoticed, then how about lines of code that determine RTH or whatever other issues...
It's not asking for much since aviation is in English.  You take-off, land, and speak English in all phases of flight (on the radio) no matter where you are on Earth.

Look at our specs.  That is what we have stated the Mavic will achieve in Sport mode.  I will let individual users do their own tests to verify our specs.

Dang, this REALLY SUCKS that NO ONE from DJI is looking into this with some sort of scientific approach.  Just WATCH THE VIDEO closely.

FIRST OFF, the freakin menu says "Triple Pod Enabled" at the beginning of the video.  WTF is that?  I cannot get anyone else to even acknowledge this, let alone show any serious concern.  No one cares?  OK, then what about:

SECOND, the INDICATED SPEED in ANY direction Michael Kinkaid plays his Mavic Pro is over 55MPH!  That's got to be an error.  Mr. D's video depicts the same thing AND even shows his Tripod Mode max speed to be 3MPH.  These are supposed to be exact speeds, no?  We're not talking about 2 or 3 MPH, this is over 35%!

There are a total of 3 threads about this.  HERE is 1 of the others with a canned response from DJI versus a concern.  Genuinely examining the video would have warranted some sort of concern.

I've noticed my speeds are completely different between the Dji go app and the Osd on the remote.... remote seems to be more accurate compared to the go app..... I check my logs and my top speed says 62.5 mph but I remember checking the osd on remote and seeing 35-40 mpg top speed. Maybe some others can try . I can get proof Monday because I'm away from drone this weekend.

I"m NOT talking about Tripod Mode.

At 19 seconds, looks at the menu screen.  The letters spell very weird words and say a phrase that means NOTHING on planet earth.  Triple Pod Enabled??????

Stuff like "Exitd" have been a misprint since Phantom 3.  It's lame as hell on something so technically advanced to have such trivial, careless errors.  This aircraft, the manual, and the app are riddled with them.  I've noticed a trend here.

i'm curious too.   here's a screenshot of the 'triple pod mode' .  But now that i think about it...it's probably an old app version, and it is meant to say tripod mode instead of triple mode.  seems like a typo to me.  i think the newer version has tripod mode in the same spot.

Here is what you do... wait for a dead calm day out fly the mavic full speed, this would be the mavics max airspeed it can achieve.  The mavics speed over the ground could be unlimited depending on the the amount of tail wind. The mph that is shown is over the ground not in the air, so actually an 85 mph reading  would be very possible.

That's kind of the problem.  Individual users have done their own tests and the results seem to show a wide variance from the specs provided.  So, we are left to wonder if either the specs are wrong or the hardware/software is malfunctioning in some manner.  Hence, the requests for comment from DJI.

Extra speed in sport mode is no issue I'd imagine for anyone as that is a bonus.  However, if Triple Pod, er, Tripod Mode is not functioning withing the expected parameters, that is a bit of a concern.

I think with that weird phrase in the menu & the error in speed, this is an old firmware.  After reviewing what I even typed before, I should just wait for my Mavic to arrive before I should be worried.

I'm too busy flying my drone to get comfortable with how it behaves for now but this is what I noticed after flying it (no doing much video footage). It was my first time using Sport mode. How accurate is that?

Weather forcast shows 0mph wind when I was flying it 30 minutes ago.

DJI, you guys are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The answer to the riddle is quite simple...

40mph = 65kph

...clearly some confusion on the units of speed being used is occurring.

I've hit 70km/h (43.75mph) heading downwind. Upwind was about 20km/h less with the wind at approx 15-20km/h.

I don't have enough info to be 100% certain, but 20+ years experience as an analyst and troubleshooter tell me that the simplest answers are usually the right ones.

The alternative is that a multi billion dollar company have made a mistake and are selling themselves short!!

Here's a DataPoint . . . wind was 40-50mph today in Sarnia  . .  Mavic Performed amazingly well  . .  I could not keep up when gusts hit close to 50mph, so I had to pay close attention to the obstacles around.
