After I had a loss of control issue i decided to go ultra catious with my inspire, though I would share.

On every flight i calibrate the imu and compass and then i set max distance to 15m and upwards 100m. If it ever decides to fly off on start up it wont go further than 15m, better to be safe. Once it looks ok I increase the distance to roughly where I need to go, never have it on 500m
