The reason they are delayed so long, is because most of their customers don't want them. If they come out of your ear, they may fall where you can't get them. If you have it turned off, you may not even know it fell out. Good bye $180. This is one of the times when the customers likes to have a string attached. I think they are doing the math and deciding whether to continue with them or scratch the product.
