I was lucky enough to get my Mavic Pro on Monday this week, and had ordered the Fly More bundle.  I really like the satchel-style carrying case, but am concerned about protecting the Mavic in the car.  I have dogs, and other junk, and figured that for the times I'm near my vehicle, using the Pelican case would be best.  I personally don't like the pick-n-pull foam that comes with the Pelicans, so I ordered the Kaizen Foam inserts to customize how my Mavic will sit in the case.  Here's a shot of the finished product:

Pelican Case with Kaizen Foam

Pelican Case with Kaizen Foam

There is enough room for the Mavic, Controller, 2 Spare Batteries, Memory Card Holder, Battery USB Convertor, and Car Charger.  I did the car charger versus the wall charger, as the wall charger will always be on my counter at home ready to charge batteries, but having the car charger on the go is essential.  Since this is the case that will be used when I'm close to my vehicle, it made sense to put the car charger in there.

Just thought that others might like to see an alternative method for carrying and protecting their Mavic.  The Pelican Case is the 1400 model, and I ordered the Kaizen foam from the Pelican Store.

I can't speak for the OP but I'm getting a hard case for storage, travel and random transport.  I don't disagree that the compact design is great for when you can use it but I also don't just want this thing rolling around the back seat of my car.

Where did you order this kaizen foam? I have a hard case that I do not use and I would like to have a small hard case for my Mavic only for storage to protect from humidity. Thanks!

Don't get me wrong, I'll still use the Mavic soft case for situations I need to carry it personally, like on a hike.  But right now, i consider this thing priceless cargo, and want to protect my investment.  I want to keep it in my car when I go places, and the last thing I need right now is something to get stepped on by my big dogs, or another bag or case to topple over on it.  Considering that everyone and their brother is still waiting to get their pre-orders, how long do you think it would take to get a repacement sent to me if something were to happen to it.  The pelican case is not that much bigger than the Mavic case, but will protect my little baby.

I got it from the Pak-rite - Pelican Store.  I've used their foam a couple of times, and it's definitely better than the pick-n-pull foam.  I also might add that if you do the use the pick-n-pull foam, use the Plastidip method to shore up the foam.

How many children do you have? My 4 and 1 year old like to terrorize all my nice stuff. 90% of my belongings are 5 feet in the air. I live in constant fear of an uprising. I will welcome a hard case for regular storage.

If I had kids I would consider this, but for me the included case is good enough to just toss it in the trunk. Nice job on the foam, and you can't beat a Pelican.

It looks like you didn't use the foam efficiently or really plan on future expansion of your kit. Assume one day you might get 1 or 2 more batteries. Where would you store them? Based on these cuts, there isn't any room. Had you moved the Mavic more to the left edge, and rotated the battery slots 90 degrees, you could have 4 battery cutouts instead of 2.

This works for now, but it doesn't seem very future-proof. I use the TrekPak (http://www.pelican.com/trekpak/) dividers, which you can move around as needed based on your gear at the time:

I've tried to cut the foam closer to the edge before, and it just doesn't hold up.  I really like the trekpak dividers, but for a case this small, I went with the Kaizen foam.  If I wanted to add more stuff, like the power adapter, etc, I'd probably move up to a bigger case.  This should be fine in the short term for me.

That's a good idea, thanks for recommending those dividers. Foam works as well. I'm just looking to get everything mavic related neat and orderly in the smallest hard shell pelican case as possible.

I ordered the Pelican 1400 today after I read this post and saw your photos. However, I'm going to stick with the stock foam. I like holding onto the bits of foam I've removed so that I can reconfigure the case whenever I want.

So what's the trick with Plasti-dip and the pullout foam?

There are a ton of you tube videos, mostly by gun owners, that show how to use PlastiDip to help keep the pull and pluck foam together, but still keeping it "Spongy?".  I have a Pelican 1510 case that I use for lighting where I've use that method.  AFter a while, since the pull n pluck foam is already cut into mini-squares, it can break down after a while.  PlastiDip keeps it together, if that makes any sense.  I can post a picture of the case I have if anyone is interested.

This defeats the purpose of the MAVIC portability.  You might as well buy a P4P if you want to lug around a big case.

The pelican 2100 is 1/5 the size of a phantom case about the size of a medium purse so very compact and military grade protection. Could drop 2 stories onto concrete and drone and case would be fine.

Configure pick n pluck the way you want it then pull foam out and coat with plasti-dip keeps foam from collapsing or seeming flimsy makes it look like foam was made for your item.
