Yes, it does have it (Precision Landing).  But it is enhanced - it now won't land in water, so keep VPS ENABLED!

bc the pro so much better than the phantom 4 for only $100 more. For only a $100 more you get rear ossicle avoidance side thermal sensors 20 megapixel camera! way more features, tap to focus, and way better at low low light. that is how the phantom 4 owners got screwed over.

So are you going to say the P4 Pro guys are getting screwed when the P5 comes out in the spring or the Mavic 2? They didn't get screwed because this didn't exist at the time. This will happen for each version they create, DJInnovation.

When I bought my P4 last march €1599 I thought it was worth every last penny it's a great machine, that fact that dji produced P4 pro and passed on all this new technology for an extra €100 to me is a good thing.
Do you think they should wait another year then release and charge €500 extra.
Yes some people may have bought P4 last month but got a good deal extra batteries etc etc..

The $1,399 P4 price includes 3 batteries total and the charging hub.

I have no experience with DJI or their history with respect to allowing other apps to work.  (Clearly, they have to date.)

In your experience, do you think it is likely that DJI will add the P4 Pro and allow Litchi and others to develop apps for it?  Or, do you think DJI might segue to a proprietary stance?

And, if they will, what might be the likely time frame before they open the door to this?  And, presuming Litchi and Autopilot would update their software for the P4 Pro, when might they be ready to launch?

Having recently been introduced to both of the above, and interested in using one or the other, I'm just trying to get a sense as to if it will happen, and in what time frame it might happen?

Yeah, I waited well over 3 weeks for an OSMO+ with a 10 day shipping promise, almost 2.5 times as long.

Now I've suckered for the P4P hoping ... against hope ... that DJI will honor their ship date promises.

However, stupid me, I thought the older P4 batteries would NOT work and so I ordered an extra. So, I guess this will hold me up as well ... letting DJI use my money FOR FREE for a couple weeks. Chinese profit strategies, what a bunch of ...  *#&^%!@&_

I will not do this again, either. From now on it's wait 30 days and order from B&H!

You might need to check if you've been charged yet, people here have been saying dji are not taking money from there cards until shipping.

The only thing we know for sure is that DJI has allowed 3rd-party apps to work with all prior models so it seems probable that policy will not change, but beyond that there is simply no way to predict what DJI's policy may be in the future. Such a discussion could (and probably has in various threads) go on for 20 pages but until we see some action or a definitive statement from DJI there can be nothing more than complete speculation. Unfortunately the only answer right now is if you like the P4P then buy it for what it does, or else wait several months to see what happens. Admittedly not a very satisfactory answer, but the only one we have right now.

I had the same reaction at the first moment as you did, but now i'm actually glad that they innovate. DJI have a lot to learn about how to treat a customer but let us hope that they never stop innovate and launch new products.

The production line is most likely in place for the P4P also since it not "new".

Yes, that pretty much covers it.

A new consumer model like the P4P is usually added pretty quickly, Mavic for example as had update 3rd party apps available for about a week or so now.

We just have to wait and see, especially in regard to the Android screen built into the P4P+ controller.

Pure guess but I see no reason for them to hold back from including them, but it may tale a little longer than usual due to the integrated screen.

My thanks, Telrin, for your follow-up.  As I wrote nocaps, it seems like a reasonable assumption.  I just had no frame of reference, so I appreciate your help.

The p4 pro is all the machine anyone needs. Don't wast your money on the inspire 2, while image quality will be slightly better it's not enough to justify the extra 3 grand.

I couldn't agree more....This is what I said when Mavic came out barely 6 months after the P4.  Please don't anyone give me  the "advancing technology" argument....These are not consumer items people use every day at much less price points (like phones) that one can rationalize to replace every 10-12 months.   

Once the Mavic came out, the P4 had "no value"...Mavic did everything the P4 did, but at a cheaper price and smaller design. Now, we have the P4P, which is a definite "upgrade."  DJI should have made the P4P the P4, and then rolled out the Mavic as a cheaper, more portable alternative, but with not as many features...In order to differentiate and offer a segmentation strategy.  

They are great products, but currently, there is so much overlap, their logistics people must be pulling their hair out.  Even Ken says in one of his posts, they have no idea when certain extras will arrive to ship with orders.  Sounds to me like they are just winging it (no pun intended).

Just to be clear, the P4P+ controller has the built in screen and that is not removable or replaceable or installable in any other controller.

DJI are going to be selling separate CrystalSky devices which are Android based screens and can be used with various DJI models:

Also, from all anyone can tell (since the screen specs are identical) the P4P+ controller appears to employ the smaller CrystalSky monitor in different packaging and port configuration (i.e. ports are on the controller instead of the monitor, one SD card port instead of two, no external battery connection, etc.) that relates to the unit being integrated instead of standalone. But basically it seems that the P4P+ provides the core performance of the (projected) $600 5.5" CrystalSky unit for $300 extra, which seems to be a good deal if you want a pro monitor.

In regards to the screen.

Is it just the brighter display,
HDMI out
And no connection that is the real plus.

Is hdmi just to be used with giggles, what other purpose is hdmi for? Viewing monitors etc?

I have ordered just the standard pro at this stage.

If the screen died on the + model, I can't see any way of flying was one consideration I thought? Not sure if this would be the case, having to send the whole RC for repairs etc.

Can you buy and sync a + controller at a later date?

I have a hdmi out adaptor for my iPhone, if I can find a dual lightning connector out of my phone this may also work for at least monitor viewing, or Apple TV mirroring in right situations?

Yes, the batteries are interchangeable.

The other posts are correct, the P4 Pro is a different LightBridge technology so the P4 RC and P4 Pro RC are not interchangeable.
