After about 20 or so flights on my Mavic Pro, it flew away, the R/C's display reported that it had disconnected from the Mavic so there was nothing that could have been done from the ground.

Before anyone thinks pilot error, we have S800, S900, 4 x P2, 2 x P3, 2 x Inspire 1, S1000, M100, M600, 2 x P4 and we've never had any fly aways before, reported this to DJI Support and was told DJI Care does not cover fly aways.

Yikes. That sucks.  Any chance of a partial flight record that might be accessible in the app?  Maybe you might see some erroneous commands that the software might have initiated?

Hope you get to the bottom of this.

Seems like a small GPS tracker dongle will be a good investment for the Mavic.

Could have been a bad recorded RTH and flew without GPS... Yeah, then it flies away to your old RTH point. Please show the replay of the flight in the app...

If all preflight steps are taken, I don't think the Mavic would fly away. And correct, you need to send in the aircraft in for Care Refresh.

How exactly can I send the aircraft in for DJI Care if it's flown away, gone gone gone!

As you know and as I know for owning a loads of DJI drones, the drone sets home once it gets enough satellites at its take off point.  As the Mavic has its own LCD display, wasn't using the DJI Go app, because all the info such as GPS, speed, battery and signal strength is show on the Mavic controller.

Hi, my Mavic decided to fly away today too. I was using active track with everything working fine then it just spins round and flies into a tree! Pretty sad day for me!
Arm is broken, gimbal not working properly and heaps of other warnings etc in the app. My Phantom 3 was heaps more rubust than this thing.
My flight log uploaded to healthydrones here Mark's Mavic flight log
Also I was recording at the time and I've got the video tracking me then just spinning around, gaining speed then flying into the tree. Pains me to watch it!
What do you guys think my options are now?

Fact, I own a shit load of DJI drones, over the last 4 years, none of flown away.
Fact, Mavic doesn't require DJI Go app, all the telemetry is on the controller.
Fact, it had set home on take off
Fact, it lost RC about 50m out and it andflew away

Can sometime tell me how to get logs off the Mavic controller.  It is not a requirement to use DJI Go with a Mavic as it has all the telemetry.

I'm not having a go a DJI, I have plenty of DJI products without a single fly away, and it flew away for no reason, and that's a fact

I did the firmware update today and my flight today ended in the drone spinning in circles and control was not right. I pressed to go up and it went backwards. No aileron or Elevator control. Just kept spinning and the only way was to do a RTH

I saw on one other thread that a DJI rep said people should do a full recalibration after firmware update. (Even though you're not supposed to have to nor does it state to do that anywhere in any of the instructions/warnings). Once is left to wonder if the firmware updates are completely zonking the correct calibration settings.

All your answers are very vague, instead of getting annoyed with people try to explain what you think might have happened, not just keep spouting on about all the drones you have.
Drone doesn't just fly away, something has to happen, and that's what you should be trying to find out..

So is not reading his replies. ;) OP stated in an earlier post that he was flying from the RC only, no screen attached to his phone, therefor no replay from the DJI GO app.

Did you actually read the thread?  He was flying VLOS with the controller only.  The controller provides all the control & telemetry required for VLOS flight.

crap.  just re-read the manual a few times.  I don't think any flight information is recorded/available from just the controller.  Only when connected to mobile device running the app. (not an official response, just what I was able to gather from the manual).

somewhere around 4:00 min of the video, it describes how to get some data off of the RC using a tool that support offers.  I would get in contact with support and see if you can go this route?

All you attack dogs need to chill. This is not the only report of a fly away. Nor is it the only report of strange flight behaviour with the Mavic. Stopping acting like a shill and just let the guy talk with the admin.

If this was the only report I would be suspicious too... but it is not. And from what I've read on another thread the user was in contact with DJI to replace his Mavic that flew off with a mind of its own. What we all need to know here is if the DJI Go Ap data log is required to get a replacement drone? If this happens to me do I need a video recording of the Mavic going nuts before flying off on its own? Do I also need the DJI Go Ap data log along with the Controller logs? Where is the DJI response to all these incidents? Shouldn't there be a thread about the recalibration requirements after a firmware update?

How is your logic so flawed ? Just because there are other reports of Mavic fly aways  does not validate this incident in any way ... nor does this validate any other reported incident All you bong heads need to chill less.

Before the Mavic takes off it takes a GPS reading of home. The location of home is in the computer chip in the Mavic, not in the RC. So why did it not come home when it lost contact? It knew where home was, or did it?

don't know about Mavic's internals, but on other drones fly away happens when GPS receiver loses track and show something like it's miles away from where it should be. Flight controller then 'corrects'. From the ground it looks like it flies away. If DJI put simplified GPS receiver, to save some $$, this will happen to Mavics more often, just like with cheap "me too" drones. For example stock CX-20 is known for this. Also it could be someone with GPS jammer happened to drive by.

Suspicious of what?  I don't really care if you believe me, whilst I've never had a fly away before, I'm sure that others have, I'm just letting DJI and other owners know what happened.
