Just checking if anyone using iPad mini 4 with there Mavic , and how is it working out..

I use the ipad mini 2 32GB it works perfect now that i have put on a anti glare sheet.
The ipad mini 4 is better, it has the A8 processor in it VS. the A7 on the mini 2, the mini 4 has a anti glare built into it, i believe you will be very happy with it .

Are they comfortable to hold or are they awkward,?  I will be buying mini 4 if it works out, just a pain having to use my phone, when crystalsky arrives I will like one of those,

it's no problem, im using it to hold me over till the Crystasky gets released

I tried it with the remote in apple store, and found doing that will lose the portability of mavic. Now I think iPhone 6/6s/7 plus are the best for mavic ...

If you're going to carry your Mavic in some kind of small bag, you should be able to fit an ipad mini in there as well. The bigger screen is so nice for flying compared to a phone.

This is true. But iPad Mini won't fit into the Mavic office bag though...

IPad mini 4 work's great BUT one needs a right angle lightning lead, otherwise one will be bending the cable
and we all know how easy they are to break.

and the IPad mini 4 slides in the front of the official case.

An 8" cable is the perfect length.  I ordered from these guys and they come out of China, so expect a 2 or 3 week wait for delivery.  The cable is perfect however.

This cable works great, Monoprice Keychain. Just need to remove the cable from the keychain.

I've already ordered the very same cable!  For those who spend their lives in airports I believe Brookstone sells something very similar, though it doesn't state the length on the box.

Good question.  I'm not really sure what you would need the device GPS for.

I have 4 IOS devices and they work great. I'm sure a Mini 4 would work really great.
I have an iPad Air, Air 2, Mini 3, and iPhone 7, they all work great.

The aircraft has a GPS, the GPS in your iPad (if if had data it has a GPS) is used for Follow Me, and downloading maps.
A WiFi only iPad is fine, you just may not be able to use Follow Me.
With the maps of the areas you are going to fly at, you can use your phone as a hotspot or cache the maps while at home on WiFi.

Thanks.  I'm much more likely to use Active Track now that it's around vs. Follow Me, but can always use my iPhone for the latter if I ever wanted to.

Can't wait to start using a bigger screen vs. my iPhone 6!  Apple should pay you commission

Yes, use Follow Me with your phone as it's way smaller and no need to follow yourself with a big tablet.
And you'll love the bigger screen of the Mini. It will barely fit in the Mavic holder. You can buy one of those tablet holders many companies are 3D printing.
