I installed a recently purchased Polarpro filter on my Mavic tonight to check out the fit.  It slipped over the lens and held tight.  After powering it up, as it sat on the table I tried moving the gimbal. It didn't move and I got a gimbal motor overheat error. (I had removed the Gimbal securing bracket) When I turned it off and powered it back up the gimbal error came back.  I removed the filter,  powered it up and the gimbal worked normally.  I reinstalled the filter and got the same error. I emailed Polarpro and am awaiting their reply.
Anyone have similar problems?

From what I under stand you have to power up the mavic and then install the filter.

With the Polar Pro filters, you need to slip on the filter carefully with the Mavic powered on.

Having to install and remove doesn't seem practical.  I heard Taco make filters that are lighter and can left on the gimbal. Has anyone tried them?
Are there other filter Mfr that make filters that don't have to be removed every flight?
thanks for reply

I hope you researched about PolarPro filter installation prior to purchasing them. They also have posted a video on their website on how to install their Mavic filters.

Would be nice to see how tap to focus work with ND64 or ND32 installed.

PolarPro is releasing a Cinema series filter in the near future that allows the filter to be installed before power on. I've heard (but can't confirm) that they are allowing those who bought the first production set to trade in/up to this set. Having the first set, it's a bit of a PITA to take on/off each time you fly but video is substantially better.
